GL, Glenn did seem to struggle with things at the beginning. I realize I'm completely biased, but I thought he still sounded great. Just not quite the same at first.

I knew it was gonna be a good night when I opened my envelope at the All Access party and my tickets read: Section B Row 1 Seats 8 and 9.
Seat 10 was dead center. If I ever complain about bad seats you all have permission to give me a big, fat "Stevie Smack".

As VA said, security was pretty tight which is understandable. There's a lot of nuts out there -- and they seemed to have more than their fair share in Vegas -- this coming from a NYC girl. For any borderers going on the 19th, regular cameras were OK. Security only really cracked down if they thought someone was video recording. I'm gonna try & download some phone-camera pics but they may not be so great. They were checking bags more for weapons or "sharp objects" than for cameras.

I got alot of "Joe love" which was fabulous -- as was the entire concert. I think he thought it was my birthday, not VA's. Sorry VA! And I'm loving the guitar pick. I've gotten the generic pick in the past, but this one is flashier with "Eagles 2011" on one side and big JW initials on the other side.

There seemed to be longer stretches of time in between songs -- they didn't seem to flow right into one another, but that was OK. It kinda gave you time to regroup and anticipate the next song. When they played HC as their fourth song, I knew we'd be getting the abbreviated set list and I think VA is right about casino shows. I'm not sure, but I think they have time-restriction rules that must be followed. I'm not complaining -- but I guess you just get spoiled if you've been lucky enough to see the 3-hour show.

7 Bridges Road was beautiful. Although I personally prefer when they hit the stage "hard" with a rocking song, 7BR never fails to showcase their beautiful blending of harmony. I was mesmerized.
Glenn sounded great on How Long and Don's voice was spot-on hot!
There wasn't a lot of between song chit chat and things were pretty mellow through HC, PEF and ICTYW. Things picked up a little during WW and LE, but got kicked into high gear during Walk Away. I think that was the first song where everyone was on their feet. Up till this point, it was hit and miss for dancing. After Boys of Summer, Joe kicked it up another notch with a slower, more R&B-ish version of In the City. It rocked. His guitar solo seemed longer to me than usual which was great. The band just seemed to be jamming, taking their cues from Joe, rather than playing the note-for-note "as recorded" version. The arena was rockin !!

DH talked for a few minutes before they played the Long Run. He mentioned this was their next to last performance for this year (he specifically said: "This Year") and how they would be celebrating their 40th Anniversary next year. The crowd went crazy for that announcement and someone in the band joked and Don repeated it: "That's right -- we're going to Disney World." He also said: "After 40 years this has kind of become our theme song. Sing it with me" (and I did) and they played The Long Run. Fun, Fun, Fun Song.

As VA said, when Glenn did the band intro's he called Don the "finest singer/songwriter he'd ever worked with and that they'd been riding this rollercoaster called the Eagles for over 40 years." Ride on, gentlemen.

Up until this performance, I thought HC or LE were their longest songs, but they played Life's Been Good next and it was about 8 minutes long.
First Joe gave the usual (but fun) intro about how he'd like to apologize to everybody for this next song -- in case your parents played it the whole time you were growing up -- and how it would explain why you are a "little different". I could hear him say this a thousand times and it makes me smile every single time. Anyway, Joe nailed it. He just wailed away on the guitar. Again, it seemed to be a more R&B-ish, loose version. They seemed to be just playing -- having fun and jamming away. It was heaven.

Next came Dirty Laundry and Funk 49. In the opening of Funk 49 Glenn and Joe played back and forth and off each other -- a "can you top this" kind of back and forth riff. It was really fun & playful, but then Joe played the opening notes and the crowd hit their feet. The horns were outstanding as well. Scott looked like he was having a fun time too and yes, Steph, Will was on top of his game too. I LOVED this song. How could you not?

Next came Heartache Tonight. Glenn captured the audience as usual and had everyone on their feet. I just love this song live. Its always a little different and always alot of fun.

On LITFL, Don's voice was spot on. He just amazes me every time I hear him sing. Once again, though, Joe just seemed to capture the stage. He played it loose and off the cuff and this was my favorite song of the concert. You could tell Joe was having fun and playing "in the moment".

Everyone was back on their feet for Take it Easy (which is my personal favorite for its beautiful vocals and harmony) and they stayed on their feet for RMW which again had what seemed to me to be a funkier - more bluesy kind of vibe. All too quickly, they kicked in to the first few notes of Desperado and it was over. Sniff. Once again, Don nailed it. His tone. His delivery. His stage presence. I was a big, happy puddle of mush. Can't wait for the next one -- and the one after that.

    The end. HH.

Oh. Forgot the story about the boy on stage.

There's a picture (mayble Soda can find it quickly and post it) of a little boy sitting on Don's lap (lucky) center stage after a concert. He looked young-ish -- maybe about six at the time.
He was there on Saturday night, wearing a T-shirt with a picture of that shot on it and they brought him on stage at the end of the show for a "kodak moment". They gave him drum sticks -- lucky kid -- and took new pictures with him. I'm not sure, but I think DH told him to stick around after the show and have his pic taken again. He bent over and whispered something in his ear. Oh to be that little boy! Look for the pic on a google site soon. Cute kid. I don't think he's related to DH but you never know.

Wow! Wonderful reviews both Va and HH! Sounds like you both had a wonderful time! Thanks for telling us all about it!

Va, what a wonderful way to spend your birthday! And both of you got picks!

I cannot even imagine leaving an Eagles show before it's over! I don't even dare to go to the powder room during the break! You never know what you might miss!

HH's review reminds me...I think it was during Funk #49 when Joe was playing, as HH said, more just jamming, he went off on a riff and Steuart's brows went up and he looked over at Glenn with question and surprise on his face. Glenn was smiling and watching Joe, Timothy was looking at Joe then at Steuart like 'Wow, where'd that come from?' It sounded great of course, and I missed any other interaction because Joe's playing demanded that you watched his fingers on the guitar.

HH, thanks for the review, but could you share some thoughts on Glenn's voice please. Did he struggle?

Yes. He did seem to struggle a little. I hesitated to comment or dwell on it because in its totality, his performance was outstanding and the struggle minimal , but he did seem to have a bit of a problem at times -- especially on TITTL. That key might be harder for him than others, but it almost seemed like an oxygen issue. Like he didn't have the breath in his lungs to back it up. Does that make sense to you?

It could very well have been a slight chest cold issue. Despite all, he did an outstanding job -- which shows his true professionalism, but he did seem a little off his game. Regardless, it was fabulous show.

That lucky little kid! Getting sticks and going onstage with Don! I wish I was that kid... a girl can dream, can't she?

That makes sense; thanks for clearing that up. I think it's obvious that nobody can sing perfectly every night & some allowance should be made.
