And here is another one; frankly, I have no idea what this guy is trying to say, except that Glenn didn't satisfy HIM. 'Uninspired'? Vocals 'DISPASSIONATE'?!

It's always good to get other perspectives, and I like constructive criticism, but to call this album 'vapid' is misguided & wrong.

What is it with some people that they only think singing is good when the singer scats & emotes all over the place & forgets about the actual lyrics? I am not going to give examples but one of the reasons I think Glenn is a great singer is that he has never done that. He doesn't do a lot of vocal 'improvising' if you like apart from some 'oohs'. He doesn't have to. It is the lyrics & melody first & foremost.

    Though short, this is better:

In this one, Glenn's 'vocals do not stand out' and he is 'trying too hard'.

FP, did you miss putting a link in for the top one? The 'vapid' one?

OK, now read the comments. Let's see...who might 'eagleschic' be? At least the guy was 'happy' to hear alternative viewpoints. I still can't figure out what he was listening to, though. Maybe his ears need to be cleaned or something. I hear PASSION. Vapid?? I've listened over and over (hehe, just had to) and I don't hear vapid.

Though it pained me to click on Fox News that was nice; there must be more new concert footage out there....

That last review VK posted was pretty good. I know that it may have rubbed people up the wrong way to envisage a rock singer doing this sort of material; that is fair enough if they feel that way. However I do object to the 'he can't carry it off' stuff because that is wrong. He will not sing these songs the exact way they were written because that isn't the point. I think the whole project is just brave. It no longer bothers me whether it sells or not.

It now shows him as 64 for this week & 84 for last. The green arrow indicates that it is a climber.

Some of the nitpicking about how he sings some syllables in his rock voice seems unnecessary to me when the entire review basicallyl chides him for NOT making the songs into rock or 'blues' or 'honky tonk' songs. I don't agree that he is 'forced' into his lower register at all. Neither do I agree in any way that he cannot carry off Look Of Love or Shadow Of Your Smile. The 'taste of rural authenticity' stuff is a patronising rebuke of a man who was born in a big city & knows this music like the back of his hand.

Anyway, I guess it's good to see a lengthy review, even if the writer basically wants Glenn to stick to 'rural rock'.
I couldn't agree with you more, FP!!!!
