    Default Venue Talk

For those who may wonder why bands play certain venues.

Interesting - Thanks Dawn. Well, no one said Irving got where he is for being nice. The music business appears to be a dog eat dog world and Irving has certainly mastered it.

Hi there NKIT - yes it is interesting Personally I had no real understanding of the industry nor that promoters/agents could/would have a vested interest in certain venues.

Speaking of Azoff, looks like Oak View Group has their sights on the Key Arena in Seattle.

Wow, this venue booking business sounds pretty cutthroat. Thanks for posting, Dawn.

It appears though, that this is not as big a deal for the run-of-the-mill fan, as it is the groups and insiders/behind the scenes people, and venue operators/employees.

And beyond that, in places like my neck of the woods, I'm not sure it's too big of a issue at all. It COULD be a problem if say, Irving's group would not allow his artists to play at any venue that they didn't have an interest in.
For instance, where I live, if a there are concerts, they are at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville. It seats 19,500 people and is really the only venue that size for a few hundred miles. The next largest venue in Knoxville is the Civic Coliseum that holds about 8,000 for concerts.

True, but it is interesting to see the maneuvering they do. This is why we have to regulate the free market!

Instead of more regulations how about revising the current anti trust laws in place. As we saw over the last 8 years excessive regulations causes poor growth and chokes.

The current anti trusts need to be revised to modern standards so that Irving, Jeff Bezos and others dont have a monopoly. Imo I will take revisions over additions any day
