Default Share the Music You Love

We are all obviousy music lovers, so I was wondering if you would like to share music you have downloaded onto your ipod - not everything of course - only those gems you love so much you want to share with others. Whether it's a song or a whole album, whether it's obscure or popular, whether you found it accidentally or went searching for it, this is the place to share your finds.

Last week in the American Idol thread, I posted that this week was going to be Songs From Movies week, and asked if anybody had any ideas for what the contestants should sing. Little did I realize that I had just given myself a lot of homework, because I then began to research songs from movies. I fondly remembered two songs from the movie Phenomenon, starring John Travolta. One was Have a Little Faith in Me, performed by Jewel. That was one of the first songs I put on my ipod when I got it, however I downloaded the Mandy Moore version. I just love it.

While doing my recent research I remembered Aaron Neville's version of Crazy Love from the same movie. Unfortunately, to purchase Aaron's version from itunes you have to buy the whole album, so I purchased Van Morrison's version of Crazy Love.

So there you have it - two songs that I never would have thought of purchasing had it not been for the movie Phenomenon!

Looking up soundtrack songs brought back some happy memories for me, too!

Kind of a random sampling of some of my faves on my iPod - I'm gonna focus on the more obscure stuff / stuff you might have forgotten about - because that's more surprising than my recitation of the Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, U2 and Springsteen. I'm not sure what criteria you want us to use but I will list some favourites that I heard before I started recharging this morning:

    Babylon Sisters - Steely Dan
    Kiss - Prince
Hanging On The Telephone - Blondie
If It Wasn't For Bad Luck - Ray Charles
    Borderline - Madonna
Stand By Me - Ben E. King
Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile) - Van Morrison
Lily, Rosemary & the Jack of Hearts - Bob Dylan (LOVE IT)
    Vienna - Billy Joel
    The Guitar Man - Bread
    Georgia - Boz Scaggs
Wilie & the Hand Jive - Eric Clapton
    Bella Donna - Stevie Nicks
Houses Of The Holy - Led Zeppelin
That Voice Again - Peter Gabriel
Abraham, Martin & John - Dion
There's A Party At My House - Randy Newman
Bobby Brown Goes Down - Frank Zappa
    Vincent - Don McLean
    Willy - Joni Mitchell
    Sitting - Cat Stevens
You Can Call Me Al - Paul Simon
I Wish It Would Rain - Temptations
Jive Talkin' Bee Gees (one of my absolute favourite songs)

All of these are big favourites of mine and they are a fairly representative sample of what's on there. I didn't list any Beatles songs because none of my favourites were played, and there were no Rolling Stones songs this time.

    Jet- Rollover DJ
Jet- Are you Gonna Be My Girl
Jet- Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Acoustic* HIGHLY recommend!! the guitar on this is AMAZING!)
Kid Rock- Rock and Roll Jesus

Yes I agree with you, this are two great albums. The Unplugged CD was my first Eric Clapton album! I like both very much.

You guys, this is great! I confess, when I started this thread I figured everyone would be posting 5-10 gems and then adding to the topic as you came across different gems. I certainly have a lot of music on my ipod, but I'm only going to share the stuff that I didn't even know I liked until I found it! Hopefully we can make this an ongoing topic, because I'm always looking for different artists.

I'll have to go through my itunes list later but for now I'll just add this one that kind of took me by surprise. I recently watched the movie Twilight and was browsing some youtube videos on the movie and came across this beautiful piano piece that was supposed to be in the movie but never made it. I never would've thought about downloading something like this but i just found it to be such a beautiful song.
