wondering what anyone here thinks of them? In my view, they were a pretty ok band with flashes of greatness. I think JY in many ways was the most talented member in the group but also the most underutilized. I like there first two albums the most since his musical DNA is most apparent on them.

Dennis DeYoung, on the other hand, was the most over-utilized guy in the group. Too much into liberace style theatrics. Even on some of his better songs, I'd bet that JY came up with the idea to put the harder rock stuff in it (my guess is the last few minutes of Suite Madame Blue were JY's idea).

The hits they had with Tommy Shaw aren't bad but there is a sort of blandness to it. "Renegade" and "Blue Collar Man" have sort of that Foreigner/late 70s generic arena rock feel to it.
