We have no control over what we like. A lot of the song just doesn't appeal to me. I do love Witchy Woman though.

I listened to the cd last night just to get a flavour of it again before I voted. I think that of all the lesser known songs 'Tryin' appealed to me least so I will vote that off. For a debut album it was excellent.

I like the slightly dissonant banjo and harmonies on Earlybird, and the way the electric guitar kicks in near the end.

Looking back, I think it was probably a bit harsh of me to describe the lyrics as vague. I think what I was trying to getting as is that I feel that when I listen to Earlybird, all the lyrics come together as part of the song's overall message. With Tryin' I like the lyrics to the first verse, which I agree is effective at describing the pursuit of musical dreams. However, I feel it slips a bit in the second verse, which seem to me to be about 'trying' in general for the most part rather than necessarily about being a musician so I guess I think it slightly loses sight of the original focus. Just hope that makes sense... I should say that I don't mind the lyrics at all, and I do like the song, it's just not one of my favourites from this album and I prefer the music and lyrics on Earlybird.

I agree with your points about Earlybird, and I couldn't agree more with you about Take The Devil... I love, love, love that song! Everything about it is just awesome, IMO, and I'm glad to hear that other people love it as well. It was never likely to be a hit, but I really dig the atmosphere, music, vocals and lyrics of the song. Part of the reason I waited before voting was that I wanted to ensure my vote wasn't going to needed to attempt to save it.

Well - Quite simply, Earlybird is one of my least favorite Eagles songs. I don't dislike any of the band's songs, but the tweeting does nothing for me and too much of a bluegrass flavor for my tastes. So ...

I cast my vote for Earlybird.
