I was a huge Journey fan back in the day and love Steve Perry's voice, so I was really skeptical when we saw them a few years ago. But, DF is right, Pineda is amazing! He even resembles Steve Perry! I'd go see them again, if I get the chance.

A couple of weeks ago we saw the double bill Styx and Boston at our local fair. Styx has a sound-a-like Dennis DeYoung and Boston has a sound-a-like Brad Delp (which was a little creepy-Brad committed suicide last year). Both bands were very, very good. The only original member of Boston dedicated the show to Brad and said they feel like he's up there with them every night, which was a nice moment.

The bands drew 45,000 people to our little country fair that evening. That's twice as many people as live in our little town!

Is Tommy Shaw still with Styx? He's from close to here and I remember several people back in high school pretty much "stalking" him and his family when they were 1st getting famous back in the 70's. Sounds like your little town was a bit over crowded for awhile!! How exciting that probably was!

That's interesting that you went to see Boston, Molly, because when I read DonFan's account of the Journey concert, I remembered reading about Boston's new lead singer, Tommy DeCarlo, in our paper a couple of months ago. Here's the story:

We saw Boston a month or so ago, and while they were very good....they only sang for about 45 minutes to an hour with no encore! People were NOT happy!

I saw Journey last month at the Sommet Center in Nashville,TN and they
were great. Everything good you hear about Arnel is true. He is awesome.
Cheap Trick opened for them and they were quite good, too. The Sommet
Center is where I will be seeing our Eagles also on the 18th of this month.
We also saw Bruce Springsteen at the Sommet about 2 weeks ago. It's
been a good string of concerts in Nashville lately. Which is great for me
since I only leave about 2 hours away from Nashville here in western
    Kentucky.

My Parents were coming home from the San Juan Islands and stopped in a little town just south of Seattle for Lunch (this was in 1980 or there abouts.. just before I graduated from highschool). They said there were two big buses in the parking lot and a lot of long haired young men in the restaurant. They said one young man with dark hair opened the door for them and said Hi. Mom said he was very nice and handsome. When I asked them if they buses said anything she said it was something like Voyage or Escapade or something.. I thought and said "JOURNEY?????????" Mom said "THAT was it!, Do you know them?" I cried (I loved Steve Perry). I did see them the following year at Oregon Jam '81 (was that 81 Wild? I think so) with Loverboy, Joan Jet and Blue Oyster Cult, but Steve Perry didnt open any doors for me.

    Ticky--Voyage, Journey--whatever! So funny!

Rick, I like the Sommet Center too. I was there last fall to see the Eagles at the CMAs. It is a really nice venue.
