    Default ELO

Not sure if I should post this in another section, but it can be moved...

I was listening to Jeff Lynne's new ELO album yesterday, and the All My Life verse reminded me of something (musically), and I couldn't think of what it was. Then after several hours I got it. It's an Eagles song. I won't say which Eagles song, because I want to see if any Eagles song comes to your mind.

The intro already has the verse chords, but when the verse melody comes in, that's what I'm talking about.

I'm not talking about a rip-off, just tiny similarities.

It reminds me more of The Yardbird's "For Your Love"

It's not available for me. I will be getting the album for Christmas.

Ok. It's kind of an embellished version of the Eagles melody. The most important notes and the first chord movement are the same.

I did go to youtube and listened to the new ELO songs posted there. I can't identify the similiar Eagles tune to which you refer; but, independent from that, as we have anticipated, it is beautiful music.

After you have identified the song, I can go back and listen once more, and perhaps will then be able to hear the similarities. That should be fun.

I could reveal it right away, but I don't know if there's still someone who's interested in checking it out. Almost a hundred people have seen the topic so far, so I imagine there won't be many more replies...

I'm very much interested in hearing if the same Eagles song comes to anyone else's mind, as my ear registered it immediately for some reason. A clue: It's the chorus in the Eagles song I'm thinking of.

Finally hurried in and listened! Beautiful song, but I can't put it with anything Eagles.

Sorry Chaim! Maybe another listen or two and I would recognize something, but don't know when I'll get time.

Yeah, I think I'll "reveal" it now. From the very first time I heard All My Life I heard You Never Cry Like A Lover in my head. They are in different keys.

In the ELO song is starts from 0:14 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0k0cjm9IBQ

("All my life I was looking for you. And suddenly you are there")

In the Eagles song it starts from 0:45 mark: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s_IHUuDGnU

("I thought I saw somebody I loved, sleeping deep inside you")

Again, not a rip-off. Just based on the same musical vocabulary IMO.

Chaim, the video was blocked for me (in Canada) & I wasn't able to find the song anywhere else or I would have given it a listen.
