    Default Moody Blues

Any Moody Blues fans here? They're one of my favorite bands, and "To our children's children's children" is one of the greatest albums ever made in my opinion. Here's a great, unknown track from that album:

(You can hear the previous song fading out at the beginning. They did a lot of crossfades on their albums. A DJ's nightmare in the vinyl days!)

MASSIVE Moodies fan here thanks to my dad. I see them at least once a year.

I also saw Justin and got his autograph on his solo tour in August which was amazing.

My favorite Moodies song is also a rarity. It's an outtake from the Keys of the Kingdom sessions called "Highway".

I'm not sure if I've ever heard this. I've seen the title many times in the Time Traveller box set, but I don't have it. It seems similar to Lean On Me in terms of arrangement and rhythm, so maybe they felt they were too similar to appear on the same album? A great tune!

I saw them twice back in the 80s but surprisingly the only album I have apart from a compilation is Long Distance Voyager. They put on a fantastic show; this is when Ray Thomas, the flautist, was still with them. My favourite songs are as follows:

    Nights In White Satin
    Question
    Isn't Life Strange
    In My World
    Talking Out Of Turn
    For My Lady
    The Voice
    I'm Just A Singer In a Rock'n'Roll Band

and Justin Hayward's Forever Autumn & Hayward/Lodge's Blue Guitar.

My favourite non-Eagles, non-Beatles band. "Nights in White Satin" blew my mind the first time I ever heard it when I was 13. When I really became immersed in 60's and 70's-era classic rock music a year later, the Moody Blues, along with the Beatles, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, and Jethro Tull, helped to lead the way in my musical development.

Top 10 favourite Moody Blues songs(strictly classic period Moodies):

    1. Question
    2. Tuesday Afternoon(Evening Time to Get Away)
    3. Legend of a Mind
    4. Departure/Ride My See Saw
    5. In the Beginning/Lovely to See You
    6. You & Me
    7. The Story in Your Eyes
    8. Nights in White Satin
    9. Floating
    10. Beyond
    All carrot, no stick.

"He's just another power junkie, just another silk scarf monkey. You'd know it if you saw his stuff. The man just isn't big enough."--Glenn Frey/Don Henley

"You think you know me, but you haven't got a clue."--John Lennon/Paul McCartney

I would love to see The Wind of Heaven tour have a great time!!!!

    Edited to add

FP, I've read the 1978 "Forever Autumn" has been a veritable show stealer in his earlier solo shows this year. I hope he performs Western Sky and Watching and Waiting, two other songs he gets much praise for.
