I think I got it fixed, finally! I ran Adware Cleaner again and then read through your post again. I had missed disabling a couple add on tool bars. I did that and restarted and voila! So far!

Thanks so much for all your help Austin! If that didn't get it I was gonna have you do a remote log in.

Those toolbars can be quite pesky to remove. They track your online activity, redirect you to other sales sites to make commissions, etc...nasty stuff.

I've noticed that Photobucket opens a new tab every time I open it and click 'Library'. Maybe, Brooke, you inadvertently clicked something on that new tab and it put something on your computer? Since it only happens on Photobucket, I know it's not my computer. Where I work, they block ads completely and this is the reason why. Unfortunately, they went too far and it's why I can't buy tickets on Ticketmaster, because they see the Captcha code (the 'prove you're a human' code) as an advertisement. It's very frustrating to always try to stay one step ahead of the malware and still leave your computer functioning the way you need it to for the things you want.

Seems to be working still, so looks like I got it!

I agree, VA, you have to be so careful about what you're clicking on!

SO true. Unchecky helps avoid installed adware when installing other programs that sneak it in. But online it's a danger zone and you always have to be on the alert.

    What browser are you using?

If it's not Chrome, you will need to install Flash Player for both IE and Firefox...they use separate versions. Chrome has Flash Player built in.

If you have Flash installed or it's Chrome, it's a bit more tricky to diagnose. Try all three browsers, and see which don't play. If there is just one, I'd say it's software related, I find it hard to believe it'd be Malware on a newly restored computer.

Try uninstalling Flash Player for ActiveX/IE and reinstalling it.

An article about a new kind of virus called ransomware... It is so important not to click on links in emails, Twitter, Facebook, even here unless you trust the link. For this site, I have a rule...if it's a new member I don't like on a link they post. Also, I've noticed that the Google alerts lately have been even worse than usual. The 'headline' will be something I'm interested in, but the site that's listed is something totally unrelated to the headline (the actual links are embedded in a Google redirection, so you can't tell where it will take you for sure).
