    Default Hello from Michigan!

    Hello Everyone from Canton Michigan!

Long time lurker, thought I would finally sign up and join the conversation. Big fan of the music, and enjoy abusing a guitar in my spare time trying to play some of these great songs! Seen both Henley and Felder in the past few months!

As you can tell from my handle, TMH is my favorite song, brutal to play on a 12 string! I've been told my musical tastes are a bit eclectic, would say my top five Eagles songs are Too Many Hands, One of These Nights, Is It True? (learning this one right now), After the Thrill Is Gone and King of Hollywood. Like I said, a bit eclectic!

Thanks for having me and looking forward to some great discussion over time!

Greetings, Too Many Hands. I hope you'll enjoy your time on The Border.

What kind of 12-string do you play? I'm thinking of buying a used Seagull.

Welcome to The Border! Hope you enjoy your time on here, I am sure you will.

As an aside, is One Of These Nights your favourite Eagles album? Interested to know because I noticed three of your favourite tracks are from it, including Too Many Hands itself.

    Thanks for the welcome!

Yup, One Of These Nights is definitely my favorite album. IMHO it represents the peak of their collaborative efforts, covers a wider range of musical styles, and has more of the songs that I enjoy playing myself.

Eagles, OTB, and HC come close but have less variety and certainly less of the r&b influences found in songs like OOTN or ATTIG. Never a huge fan of Desperado outside of Outlaw Man and Bitter Creek, and only a couple songs from TLR really grab me. But part of what I love about the band is how different folks really dig completely different songs!

    Thanks!

It was an old Rickenbacker 360 electric, pretty beat up but decent tone. I eventually swapped it for an equally beat up Gretsch Electromatic. While I loved that jangly sound you can only get from a 12-string, I found that my hands were a bit too small to obtain a good consistent sound. I definitely admire players that can master it!
