Default did anyone here know that

I Can't Tell You Why was recorded all the way back in March of 1978? I would have guessed that during the nearly three years between HC and TLR that many people were wondering if they had broken up (especially with Seriously Folks being released).

Wouldn't it have made sense to release "I Can't Tell You Why" as a single in the summer or fall of 1978 so as to calm down the fans?

If I remember right, that was one of the first songs completed for TLR album. I don't think the Eagles released songs until they released an album. The exceptions were the Christmas/NY songs released in 1978. They recorded and released those because they were under pressure from the record company to get something out. Heartache Tonight was the first single released from TLR album.

That Christmas/New year single was the only one I could think of too, NKIT. As far as a need to calm the fans down (wondering if the band had broken up), I don't remember anyone thinking at the time that was happening. Although it was a long time between HC and TLR, the band toured extensively during that time. I saw them in August of 1978 in Cincinnati which was known then as Summer Tour, although it is now listed as part of the HC tour.

Hi My My, I also do not remember there being any rumors about the Eagles breaking up in 1978. They were still ridding the high/fame from the success of HC and, like you said touring and struggling to write songs for TLR.

Peneumbra - OMG - This cracks me up ! I love your stories. We had the Alvin And The Chipmunks Christmas album when I was a kid and we loved it. My sisters and I played that thing over and over and probably drove our poor parents nuts we played it so often.

NKIT -

I adore the Chipmunks and especially their Christmas song.

ME I WANT A HULA HOOP.

Sigh. I still know all the lyrics and have perfected my Alvin impersonation/voice so well I literally crack myself up.
