Fitting that the first Grammy they won should be the last one we celebrate!

Yep, it sure is. Especially since their last Grammy was the first one we celebrated!

Since the Eagles never attended the Grammys, this is the best I can do - their nomination for album of the year (which they lost, but won record of the year)!

Greatest Hits reach #1. I can't even begin to tell you how many times I played that CD. I actually need another copy, as my current one is all scratched. It's a true classic in it's own right!

So true. ltl. This album has the distinction of being the first album to ever be certified platinum by the RIAA. And after Michael Jackson's death last year, I thought for sure that Thriller would quickly surpass it as the all-time best-selling album. However, Thriller has only managed to tie this album's sales to date. What an amazing accomplishment - no wonder the Eagles are widely considered to be America's greatest band ever!!!

I like the item in 'Today in Eagles History' for today.

They also played their first gig in the LROOE tour in the O2 in London where the Borderers were proudly and audibly represented by MF, GEF myself and Laura. I think StephUK was there as well and its possible that there were others as well. What a night!!

I just saw the calendar... its been a year since I've seen the guys!!! I can't believe its been a year already. I remember it like it was yesterday. This was the show that Timothy stole my heart. I clicked on the link and saw the pic and the memories came flooding back... its so bittersweet.

I noticed that today is a pretty significant day in Eagles' history - May 1, 1972 was the day that Take It Easy was released as the bands' first single.

Wow - it's amazing that after 38 years, that song still sounds fresh. Loved it the first time I heard it in the summer of '72 and still love it to this day. Talk about staying power!

Don't you mean, song power? I can just see Glenn in that shirt.

It is an amazingly great song. I never tire of hearing it.

Just the fact that it's been covered so much shows what a well loved song it is.

    Happy Anniversary Take It Easy!!!
