Default Revel in Atlantic City closing

I just got an email that the Revel is closing after Labor Day weekend. A big long list of when everyone must be checked out and when cars need to be removed. They thanked everyone for their patronage. Even though I could see it coming, I still feel kind of sad. Except for The Escalators From Hell, I have very good memories of the Revel, two Eagles shows (second and first rows) and a Don Henley show (row six or something like that). It didn't say why it was closing, but the procedure to cash in chips after 9/15 made it sound like it was due to foreclosure...obviously whatever chapter means you close rather than have debt forgiven and still stay open.

Maybe someone else will buy it and make a go of it, although I believe this was the second set of owners.

I got that e-mail too. Damn shame. I saw The Eagles there once and Don solo once, and of course met some of you awesome people there. I don't care for gambling or all that gaudy plushness, but I feel sad for the people who will no longer have a job. AC will be a ghost town before you know it.

I'm not a gambler and the only time you'll find me in a casino is for a concert (which means I'm in them several times a year, lol). Still, I do have fond memories of the Revel, and I'm sad to think of all the people out of work. What a shame.

I hate escalators! I refuse to use them...I'll literally do stairs in pain before I would do escalators.

I have size 20 shoes and am not real sure on my feet and I know those steps are small and my feet hang way over the edge and I know with my luck and vertigo I'd fall and get caught in the damn thing.....Elevators are a must this day and age I think.

My paranoia got worse after I watched a video of someone's clothing getting stuck in the escalator after they fell and they get mangled....no thanks. I need to not watch that stuff. I loved to fly before I watched 9/11 documentaries, now I have to take 2 Klonopin and sleep through it. I need to not watch that stuff!

Revel filed for bankruptcy twice and didn't find a buyer either time. Frankly, it never should've been built. They should have emulated Borgata (which gets the combo of upscale and still appealing to the regulars right) but it was too little, too late.

Between them, Showboat and Trump Plaza closing within a 2 month period, AC is dying quickly.

I too received that email while I was in Chicago.
I had know about it for weeks and even pmd witchy woman when I first heard.
I too have very fond memories of that place.
I did an eagles show and a don Henley solo show and got to see and spend time with some of my best Eagles buddies. It is there I met and had my picture taken with Michael Thompson as well as two musicians in Don Henleys band on our quest to find the correct bar that HH VA and dreamer were at.(the place has that many bars folks )
At that show I got to meet Sela Ward who is an Eagles fan too and she was kind enough to take pictures with JAHh and myself and see a former mayor of phila who was also our govener too enjoy the eagles as well.

Yes folks I like Va have great memories of that place except for the escalator from hell ( 5 stories straight up with nothing on either side of you as you go up or down .Nothing but the ocean and the sky in front of you)

I too have very fond Eagles memories.

Their concert venue was better sound quality then Borgata and its a dang shame.
Very very sad..what is happening to Revel and the shore .

Yep - This closing is very sad. I have very fond memories of some really good times there with many of us Borderers.
