I don't have some of the albums like On the Border, & One of These Nights is MIA, so I wasn't sure if Turn to Stone ever was on an Eagles LP. If this is on one of Joe's albums, which one? I may have to get that!!!

Turn to Stone is on two of Joe's albums, Barnstorm and So What.

With 3 guitar players, sometimes it's hard to tell if you don't know their styles intimately.

And don't even get me started on the lack of liner notes on LROOE! I love seeing who's playing what and I really miss that on this album. Also, with all the hired help, I can't help but hear in my head, "ignore that man behind the curtain." It's a little disconcerting.

    I agree with this totally.

Regarding Henley's drumming or lack of it on LROOE, I would like to think that he does at least play some of it. But as he has only ever played percussion on IDWTHAM live, who knows. I understand he doesn't want to play drums on his solo albums but with the Eagles he is supposed to be the drummer.

Frey / Henley give as little credit to Felder as possible. Felder plays the solo on the Hell Freezes Over version, & always did it live. Never saw Frey do it.
For what it is worth, this is Glenn talking about his ICTYW solo at the Songwriter's Hall of Fame appearance. This is from Soda's post on the subject.

The interviewer complimented Glenn's guitar solo, calling it "wonderful," and Glenn told the tale about how he usually wound up playing lead guitar on the bass player's songs. He said that both Felder and Joe had tried playing lead on ICTYW but "they just didn't seem to play what I ended up playing, which was very melodic..." He then quickly added, as if afraid he were come off as bragging, "I'm not saying it because I played it, but it's a very melodic, memorable guitar solo. You can sing along to it, just like you can sing along to the rest of the song."

Personally, I like the live version of ICYW with Felder playing it better than the original on The Long Run, which I guess is Glenn, but that's just my opinion.

    This is the existing topic:

This was my post. I haven't changed my mind.

I don't have the expertise to 'rate' the solos technically. However off the top of my head:

    1. Walsh/Felder - Hotel California (I would rather not split those)
    2. Frey - I Can't Tell You Why
    3. Walsh - Life In The Fast Lane
    4. Felder - Victim Of Love
    5. Walsh - Long Road Out Of Eden
    6. Leadon - Peaceful Easy Feeling
    7. Frey - Try & Love Again
    8. Walsh - Heartache Tonight
    9. Felder - One Of These Nights
    10. If this is OK, Frey - I Dreamed There Was No War

Honourable mentions to all three guitarists in King Of Hollywood.

Sorry - I did a search and nothing came up... I don't even remember posting in that thread - but I see my list has changed.
