I have Desperados if anyone would like me to send it to them to read. I have ordered the Flying High book.

Don't bother with The Long Run by Marc Shapiro and as for To The Limit, my opinions on it are well known.

"Desperados" is about 275 pages long, but you could scan the chapters or parts of chapters that refer to our guys. That's the main part we are interested in anyway!

I'm still reading mine but you are welcome to it when I am through.

Yeah - the other one might be too long, but Desperados could be workable, it sounds like.

My copy of Flying High arrived and I have started reading it. There are a couple of mistakes and a lot of it is based on old articles, but it is much better written than the Shapiro book which cut and paste the stuff verbatim, almost. The author has caught Glenn's vibrant personality well, and Don's more serious side.

Yes, I have nearly finished it. I agree with you that a lot has been taken from old articles but I think the author has done some good research and by and large it seems accurate. It's interesting that it is a British produced book. Throughout, she shows a deep admiration for all the guys, and presents even their worst shortcomings in a sympathetic light. Glenn is depicted as the inspiration holding them all together, sacrificing some of his own artistic and musical talent in order to bolster up the others.

(As I am off work today I shall probably manage to finish it, so will post it off to Nancy asap.)

ooh - thanks Kate! I can't wait! Perhaps I can use some of the quotes for "Quotable Frey."

The most glaring error is that she says Glenn sings Nightingale. I found that a bit disconcerting.

I hadn't noticed that. What surprised me was the complete omission of any reference to the Farewell 1 dvd. The Melbourne concerts feature, and the possible new album. My thinking is that the last chapter was rushed through. However, it ends on an upbeat note, and that works for me!
