That was the saddest day of all in the band's history!

According to this article, Their Greatest Hits: 1971 - 1975 was the first album to ever be certified platinum. I don't think I ever knew that.

I've heard that b-sides of singles earned the same amount as the a-side.

On 45s, I always preferred The Last Resort to Life In The Fast Lane and Pretty Maids All In A Row to Hotel California.

I thought the general consensus was that the 14 year vacation, following the the Long Night At Wrong Beach was, in hindsight, a positive "horrible relief".

Trying to come up with a sadder occasion. The police attending a Frey and Meisner fracas. Maybe worse, the destruction of the unused master tapes of Eagles material.

OK, so today's the day Lyin Eyes won a grammy, and I posted this on EOC Facebook. It's not showing on my timeline! I know Facebook doesn't push it to everybody all the time, but really, when I'm one of the page managers, you'd think it would at least push it to mine! Does anyone who has the page liked see it?

First of all, congratulations to both Heartache Tonight and Lyin' Eyes on the anniversaries of their Grammy wins. They were both so well-deserving IMHO. Love 'em both, and VA, I can see both postings on the EOC Facebook page.

F50 - Joe, Timothy, and Felder have all stated that they were very saddened when the band broke up after Long Beach. Don has stated that he was very shaken initially after receiving the phone call from Glenn. I think it was only with the passage of a little time that he made that statement about it being a 'horrible relief'. I definitely think Glenn viewed the breakup as a 'horrible relief' at that time. But, I seriously doubt that there were many fans that viewed it that way. In hindsight, after successfully reforming over 20 years ago, I don't believe hardly anyone views it a being a positive event in the band's history. It may have been necessary, but not positive. Even Glenn has said he believes if the band had been older and wiser, and taken some longer breaks back then, they may have been able to stick together. So I'll stick by my statement that it was the saddest event in the band's history.
