Yeah - I think you're right, TG. However, the writer amazingly seemed to get most of the other facts correct in this Reader's Digest version of the band' history. That's noteworthy in this day and time.

Here is an excerpt from that article. I wonder who was Number 1? The thing about these numbers is that the Eagles only do a limited number of shows. If they did the same number of shows as most other acts, they'd probably finish first every time. Doesn't really matter anyway - they'll always be tops in my book.
The concert industry trade publication Pollstar today released an incomplete and inaccurate mid-year touring chart. The trade publication’s Top North American Tours chart only includes grosses for six of the band’s 28 concert dates during the reporting period of January 1- June 30, 2010. Had all the Eagles concert dates been reported, the band would have scored #2 on the mid-year chart, grossing more than $48.7 million with 440,569 tickets sold.

Thanks for posting this, Koala. However, I can't believe the way these ratings are for the 10 greatest American bands. I mean c'mon, I know these things are subjective, but good grief, this is just unbelievable on so many levels ...
1. Lynyrd Skynyrd
2. Aerosmith
3. The Beach Boys
4. Nirvana
5. The Allman Brothers
6. The Ramones
7. The Eagles
8. Metallica
9. The Doors
10. Guns 'N Roses
Lynyrd Skynyrd at #1. The Ramones and Nirvana ahead of the Eagles and The Doors - really ??? I'm don't think they or Metallica would've even made my list at all. Where is CSN&Y or Creedence Clearwater Revival just to pull a couple off the top of my head without giving it a whole lot of thought. And these comments are just the tip of the iceberg. Oh well - JMHO!!!

Hey now Skynard and Aerosmith are pretty cool
Nirvana & Guns & Roses would not be anywhere near a decent list. Neither would the Ramones. Their appeal was not wide enough. The 'Southern Rock' genre is certainly well represented here. I don't consider the Allman Bros that important and I think the Skynyrd thing is more for sentimental reasons. CCR should be there. Aerosmith are OK but that is all.

Cool BUT, you know I have to point this out....They were able to work everyone else's names in EXCEPT Timothy.
He sings it high, he plays it low
Yeah, that just isn't right.
