Responding to a question from TBF in another thread (but not quoting because I'm technically challenged and not sure how to move the quote between threads):

Unfortunately I don't have a lot of reviews or anecdotes. I grew up in New Hampshire, so we considered any Boston band "local". Aerosmith (who actually formed in NH) and J Geils were also very popular around here when I was in high school.

I never got to see the Cars play "before they were famous". I was a little too young for rock concerts when they were up and coming, and by the time I had a job, a car and disposable income, they were already touring nationally. I think they did still play places like The Paradise in Boston, but I couldn't go because I was underage.

All I really remember was that they were extremely well-liked in my area. Everyone knew all the songs and if you had a garage band, you learned them. One of the best cover bands I ever saw (when I got old enough to go to clubs) specialized in Cars covers.

The Cars are reissuing their albums with bonus material and video!! Can't even begin to tell you how excited I am! Sounds like there may be new video of Benjamin & the Cars that we've never seen before!! Wonder if I'll get to hear new songs sung by Benjamin also!!!

Have to share this: Received a wall post on Facebook from my son Saturday afternoon. It read: "I am getting into The Cars. I have the self-titled. What other albums should I get?". Can I tell you how proud I am right now?!?! LOL I told him get them ALL because they're all just that good and told him which one was my favorite and gave him the brief history! So this morning, I pull up my Twitter account and see that he posted: "Dudz!! The Cars were so f***ing good!". I think I've made a believer!!! Of course when he posted the Just What I Needed video on his FB wall, his 19 year old sister had to comment with "OK MOM!". LOL We'll work on her!

I'm having a Benjamin day today, or shall I say, missing Benjamin day today. Anyways, thought I would share a picture that someone found and sent to me last week. I haven't been able to get it out of my mind since I first saw it. This was taken at his last public performance about a month before he passed away. He's so skinny and had to sit down but was so brave and determined. Even so ill, he was still the "Rock Star". Love the way he's dressed here!!!

My beloved Benjamin passed away 12 years ago today. It seems impossible that it has been that long ago. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him and his beautiful voice and I usually hear at least a song or two from him every day because of the music I listen to on satellite, etc.... Love and miss him greatly!!!
