Murray State University in Murray, Ky. The opening act was
REO Speedwagon. That's when I first fell in love with LIVE Rock'N'Roll
and became a fan of Joe Walsh.

Over the years, I've been to many concerts in my life and pretty much
saved nearly every ticket stub. However, for some reason I didn't keep
the one from this James Gang concert.

Well, my mom passed away about 8 months ago and my sister and I
found a box in her attic with my name on it. We got it down and looked
inside and found several old newspapers I had saved (space missions to
the moon, etc), some old rock magazines I used to buy as a kid (Circus was the name of it if any of you are old enough to remember), and a folded up poster advertising a concert.

I unfolded the poster and there it was. It had hung on the wall in my room
at home for a few years and I thought it was long gone. It was a poster
from that first James Gang concert that previously had been in a window
of a record store downtown and I had asked the owner if I could have it
after the concert was over. He did and it immediately was hung on my wall along with many other Beatles, Stones, and Led Zeppelin posters.

So, even though I didn't save the ticket stub, I have this poster as a
souvenir thanks to my mom and dad saving it in a box in the attic for
over 40 years. By the way, the year was 1971.

IT's times like that Rick when you realise the love of your parents. Wonderful story. Thanks for posting again as I am a newbie as of today; i'd have missed it otherwise. Eleanor

    Rick,

I know this is a dated thread but.....thanks so much for publishing that old concert flyer!! I too was at that same concert!! I have wondered for so long what the date of it was! It is not listed in the official James Gang concert list. I remember REO was really awesome. The concert was inside in the gym. It was strange looking back in that they had row upon row of old fold-up chairs set up on the gym floor for the "better" seats. My date and I had a seat on something like row 20.....really good seats but not too comfy!!....Location-wise.....must have been the expensive $3.50 seats!!!

I remember going to some concerts with folding chairs on the floor. Right before the show started everybody would pick their chair up and move up as far as possible, often several feet!

Absolutely! I remember those days. Try to get there early so we can move our chair up.

I would have loved to see The James Gang back in the day.
