    There are an estimated 80,000 members of ISIS/ISIL. The core membership in Al Qaeda is much, much smaller.

    I won't pretend to know jack about military strategy, but it seems... potentially possible to take them out. Not easy by any means, but possible.

    Interesting results;

    The decision to use the largest nonnuclear bomb in the US' arsenal was made by General John Nicholson, the Army general commanding forces in Afghanistan, and was not discussed with Mattis, which reportedly upset him

    The US government has refused to comment on the effects of the bombing, which targeted a cave complex in a remote region in the eastern part of the country, but Afghan officials say the attack killed 96 Islamic State militants. It is not clear whether any civilians were killed in the attack.

    I don't know what the answer is, and I truly don't want to be disrespectful to anyone on these forums, but it's simply unacceptable that we should have to live with this random carnage. Eight year old little girls being killed because they attended a concert? Crowds of pedestrians being mowed down while walking across a bridge on a lovely, warm evening in London? Why should we accept that as the "new normal" for many years to come.

    If we can do something more effective against terrorism, we should do it.
    I agree and I think it does mean more checks on people entering the country or returning from any Muslim country as well as universal vigilance. And the security agencies need to be more proactive. It's no use saying that the culprit was known to them. Why don't they act first?

    Advise people to check out Carol Malone's thoughts on The Pledge but can't find the link at the mo.
