Is Stevie wearing pants now or are they tights with her layer shirt or jacket. I can't never tell. I was watching a video from Classic East just a few minutes ago and it looks like she's wearing pants. I think she wore pants at Don's birthday concert.

    Brothers for life. RIP Glenn

I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some." -Don Henley

It's hard to tell, isn't it? I think it's tights or at least very soft, clingy pants.

Ok, I know that I suck for not writing about the show and it's been more than a week.

AT, I'll edit the audio that I recorded into a clip of the acoustic "Think About Me," so you don't have to fish through the 3 hours of audio that I have. But you can also hear the acoustic "Think About Me" in one of the Roadies episodes. It was a Showtime show that only lasted for one season, and the episode is called "The Bryce Newman Letter." Lindsey guest stars in it and he plays a little bit of "Bleed to Love Her" and "Big Love." There's an acoustic instrumental version of "Hold Me," "Bleed to Love Her," and "Stephanie." It's titled as Track 11 on imdb, but you could probably recognize it as "Stephanie."

Here are clips from someone from The Ledge to tie you over for now:
    Think About Me

    I think, Red Rover?

Welcome back, by the way, AT! Since you seem interested in Jakob Dylan's endeavors, I forgot to add that I really liked "Misfits and Lovers" from Glad All Over, the most recent Wallflowers album. Hearing it live made me really like it, since I didn't notice it before from just listening to the whole album before.

NMB, I would think and hope that Lindsey did those acoustic instrumentals, but I'm not sure and don't quote me on that.

Ok, back to the LBCM show:

"Trouble," "Wish You Were Here," "Never Going Back Again," and "Shut Us Down" were played in that order for their acoustic intro to the show with just the two of them. The audience liked Trouble, NGBA, and they really got into it for Shut Us Down towards the end with Lindsey's guitar picking. They were like 'yeah, Lindsey!' or 'go Lindsey!' or something to that effect. Christine was playing some synths softly throughout some of Lindsey's songs. Her age is unfortunately showing when she sang, but it was still nice though to her that song live. They recognized NGBA more than Trouble, I think.

Lindsey gives a short speech about the album and how it's the reason why they're here. He also mentions her return. He says that it was a "very beautiful, circular moment." She was working on stuff and he had his way with it. She chimed in and said that he took liberties, and he then said that he's been known to do that.

They do "Sleeping Around the Corner," "Feel About You," "In My World," and "Too Far Gone." I liked their interactions for SATC towards the end, and I wished that I recorded the song on video to get that. You know, he walks towards her and sort of leans in, like he sometimes does. "Feel About You" is more of a duet, since I can really hear Lindsey in it more than the studio version. I like how it supports her vocals, even if it's intended as backing or not. "In My World" was pretty much like it was on Jimmy Fallon and CBS This Morning, except more interaction at the end, I think. She's like cheering him on with his little solo at the end, and he walks up to her with his guitar and leans into her again. "Too Far Gone" was my dad's favorite song, since he really enjoyed Jimmy Paxson's drumming parts. It was the rocker out of the new songs. I liked how the lights highlighted Paxson's drum solos throughout the song. I like the "World Turning" flavor this song has.

They then go into "Hold Me," "Little Lies," and "Tusk." I liked "Hold Me" and how Lindsey doesn't try to sing too high, not that he really has lately due to age. I mean, I'm glad that it's not whisper singing or growling. I like how much clearer the "Why don't you" and "Come on and" are in this live version compared to the studio. He occasionally points during the chorus and does a little kick and stuff during the solo. "Little Lies" was eh. I don't like the recent live versions (now and during the OWTS tour) because you can definitely hear the age of their voices. Like, Lindsey just kind of growls and yells his backing chorus vocal. I don't blame him for doing that though, since I know in no way he can do it as high as the studio. The missing Stevie backing vocal on the song is quite noticeable, but I'm glad that they didn't add it in. "Tusk" was typical, if you're familiar with how he does it. He goes up to Christine and she goes up to him as well with her accordion during the last part of the song. My mom commented that he didn't seem as manic as other performances, like with the "ohhhh" and "eee-ha!" I didn't notice that though. I love the song, so I was really happy hearing it live.

They both seem content about this project and tour, and it really shows. I'm sure that he's given a similar speech like this before, but I've read somewhere that he tries to wing it or something, so it kind of ends up being rambling. Hearing him be happy about this whole thing is really great, so it's better than having it too rehearsed.

Lindsey gives a lengthy speech about how the musical chemistry is still there and it was about 3 minutes. He was wondering if they still had the chemistry together and the audience cheered enthusiastically about this. He said "Would we be able to pick up..." (Cheering) She chimes in with "the pieces?" and he says, "They're way ahead of you here." He then goes on to say that the chemistry was better than ever, but when he was trying to say that, an audience member yells out "Amazing!" After the audience cheered again, Christine joked something like the chemistry was alright. He jokes that "[the chemistry] was ok." He says that people that are in the business for a long time tend to "chase the brand" and 'do what's expected of them." He's all about solo work and growth and taking time off to do that or setting aside time for it. He said that she was brave to take 15 years off and she chimes in saying that it was true. He said something like doing stuff "on their own terms" and then coming back together created a brand new equation.

"Love Is Here to Stay" and "Red Sun" are the next ones, and I really liked LIHTS from the album. Some say that it doesn't really do anything or change throughout, but I like how it's a sweet song that displays his fingerpicking. It may not be intense, but it's quite pleasant. Some posters on The Ledge say that he wasn't really playing the guitar, like it was pre-recorded, since they don't really like how he uses pre-recorded backing vocals for some of the new songs. I personally don't mind, but yeah, I would prefer if he left them out. I think he's actually playing because I saw an Instagram video where he adjusts a knob on his guitar to get that sort of 'double guitar loop' sort of thing. I mean, I don't know how his guitar works, but I'm guessing that he's adjusting it for that reason. Before they did "Red Sun," some guy was yelling out "Red Sun!" so that was nice that he was familiar with the setlist. I really like how poppy "Red Sun" sounds, but you can really hear him in the chorus live, even though it's her song. I like how the last chorus calls back to "Think About Me" by changing from 'think of me' to 'think about me.'

"You Make Loving Fun," "I'm So Afraid," "Go Your Own Way," (encore), "Everywhere," (band intros), "Lay Down for Free," and "Game of Pretend" were the remaining songs.

I'll go back to this later, since I have to go to bed. I don't have a photographic memory, but I'm just trying to remember based on the audio I took of the show, which was surprisingly clear on the iPhone.

Thanks very much RCF. Listening now.

My Jakob Dylan album is still winging its way from the US. I can listen on spotify, but I'll wait for it to come.

Youtube went from your link to this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfNS1pEr_tI

A very modern, and different, version of the song.

RCF, your review is fantastically detailed. Thanks! And yes, that acoustic number is indeed Red Rover - one of my favorites of his from Say You Will.

Very nice review RCF - I really enjoyed reading it.

I listened to Tusk yesterday - off the top of my head it's the first time I've heard it in full for about four years or so. I should probably do a write up of what I think about each song on the album. Overall I was quite surprised by how little my views had changed since I last listened to it in this way (although I've played most of the individually quite a few times since then).

Out of curiosity, how do the other FM fans here rank the albums by the Rumours line up? My order is:

    1. Rumours
    2. Fleetwood Mac
    --------------------------
    3. Tusk
    -------------------------
    4. Tango In The Night
    5. Mirage

The dashed lines indicate the boundaries in quality as I see them. Rumours is one of my absolute favourite albums of all time, and I also love the self-titled album. I don't like Tusk as much as those too, but I think it's quite a bit better than the two 1980s albums.

Thanks everyone! I'll get to the second part hopefully before I leave for school along with edited audio clips of the show.

I'm now more motivated to get that done for archival's sake, since Lindsey and Christine announced a 2nd leg for North America. I'm so flippin' happy that they're playing in San Jose for the first show of that leg on Oct. 14, which is on a Saturday! I will try to make that no matter what.

Their news page says that "Lay Down For Free" will be their next single. Have any of you guys heard the new album's songs on the radio? I haven't yet.

Ah, I wish I could comment on The Ledge, but I have no idea what's going on. I'm still in the moderation queue with the same username as here.

As much as I want to say that Tusk is my favorite, I can't. Because it's a double album, I find myself waiting for another song that I like on it if I'm doing a straight run-through and I can't skip a song.

    1. Rumours
    2. Tusk
    3. White Album (FM)
    --------------------------------
    4. Mirage
    5. Tango In The Night

Rumours is almost perfect or pretty much perfect, but I find Tusk more interesting. However, Rumours is more consistent regarding quality. On Tusk, Lindsey's songs can sound kind of annoying on a first listen. You have to get used to them, which can be a good or bad thing. Regarding ranking, it has to be a knock on the album.

The White Album (FM) has good songs, but I can't rank it above Tusk. But I haven't given it a good listen in a while. I will skip Landslide and Rhiannon because I hear them too much. I have 7 out of the 11 songs on my phone, but I like 9 to 11 out of the 20 songs on Tusk. I know percentage-wise, the White Album should be ranked higher, but I like the oddness of Tusk. I can see why though you have a bigger preference for the White Album over Tusk. If I wasn't a fan of The Clash, I probably wouldn't like Tusk as much as I do.

I definitely agree with you on the drop-off in quality between the 70's and 80's of the Rumours line-up.

I think Mirage is more consistent for me, but Tango has better singles. "Everywhere" is my favorite and "Caroline" is a guilty pleasure. The Stevie tracks other than "Seven Wonders" are just no. "Family Man" is interesting, but lyrically, no, just no with that chorus. "Mystified" is eh to me, but I do like "Isn't It Midnight" now. I didn't care for it before. It would be kind of neat, if the two Stevie tracks were replaced with "Where We Belong," "Special Kind of Love," and "Ooh My Love," but that would be three songs on one album where the word, 'love' is used for the song titles. The demos that I mentioned aren't the best replacements either, and they diminish Stevie's role to just two songs, which isn't a great solution. I don't know, I'm spitballing.

The tracks that I don't care for much on Mirage are "Only Over You," "Empire State," and "Wish You Were Here," but even then, they're not as bad as the last two Stevie tracks on Tango.
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NMB, I hope you get to snag some tickets for Florida!
