    Funeral Playlist

I've always wanted my funeral to be a comfort to those I've left behind, so I want to have a preacher tell everyone I'm in a better place, then lead the attendees in the hymn "Because He Lives." It's very appropriate - full of hope and encouragement for the living. The last verse goes:

And then one day, I'll cross the river
I'll fight life's final war with pain
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow
Because He lives, all fear is gone
Because I know he holds the future
And life is worth the living
    Just because He lives.

I think that's all I'll have sung at the funeral itself. At the reception, though, when everyone is reminiscing about my awesomeness... we can rock. They're gonna have to play at least one song from all my favorites. Again, I'm gonna try for appropriate but also uplifting.

    Eagles - Ol' 55
(OK, I know the obvious choice is "It's Your World Now", but that's almost TOO obvious. I don't think "Ol' 55" is about death in the mind of Tom Waits, but it can be applied to someone being called home to Heaven. I like making people think, lol.)

    Fleetwood Mac - Gypsy

    Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

Glenn Frey - Part of Me, Part of You

Stevie Nicks - Touched By an Angel

    Lindsey Buckingham - Soul Drifter

Always in our hearts, Never forgotten

Is 'Largo' the piece of music also referred to as 'Goin Home?' FP?

I haven't really thought too much about my funeral (I'm too busy livin to think about dyin') But after this Christmas 'chocolate bender' maybe I should. I know for definite I would like 'Peaceful Easy Feeling', 'Where Peaceful Water's Flow' by Chris De Burgh, IDTWNW as a solo and 'Through The Barricades' by Spandau Ballet.
If I decide to get cremated I suppose 'The Heat is On' would be slightly appropriate.

Yes (it's the slow movement of the symphony). Which of course reminded me that at my funeral I would also have another tune called Going Home, the one by M. Knopfler.

I'm just now getting around to this thread. This is such an interesting topic, Willie. I like it. I'll have to give these lists some thought then I'll be right back here to post my reply.

Songs about colors-the first one that always comes to mind for me is Blue On Black by Kenny Wayne Shepherd (a close personal friend of Tim's ) and Blue Bayou by Linda Rondstadt.
