Personally, I wish Henley, Walsh and TBS had followed their original instincts , thoughts and feelings and not given in to demands from anyone or anything to record or perform live under the Eagles banner.

Not then. Not now. Not ever. But that's not what happened.

As i said earlier, I do plan to buy the CD but I am not pleased with Henley, TBS and Walsh recording under the Eagles name and can't help but feel betrayed and exploited. That's on them they had other options.

For me it comes down to honoring Dan Fogelberg and supporting the life saving goals/objectives of the Prostrate Cancer Foundation in spite of the Eagles, not because of them - and that is a painfully sad commentary.

Dawn - I could not agree more and I have bolded what you said as it expresses how I feel. I have no objection with Don, Joe and Tim honoring Dan. I know that their friendship goes way back to the early 70's, especially Dan, Joe and Irving. I too will probably buy the cd as it is such a worthy cause and I always loved Dan's music.

As FP has said, I too find it hard to believe and very sad that nothing has been done to honor Glenn. They could have made a statement saying that they would be dedicating certain shows to Glenn and proceeds would be donated to RA and UC. I will not hold my breath over this being done.

I apologize as I know this is off topic but I just wanted to address this: QUOTE FUNK 50 "Sorry to go off topic but Irving's the guy who spared no expense and effort in bringing in the eight top specialists to try and save Glenn's life. I think he's worthy of respect, as are Joe, Tim and Don".
Funk - I never read anywhere that Irving PAID for having those eight doctors treat Glenn. Only that he brought in the top eight specialist to treat Glenn. I would guess that Glenn had the best insurance money could buy. I have a family friend who works as a nurse pract. at Columbia Pres. and specialist are called in all the time by the hospital to consult with doctors. This is nothing unusual. I have no doubt that Irving helped to have those doctors treat Glenn. But whether he paid for it is a different story.

Indeed, and I believe that was the initial plan - a Joe solo track with them backing (I imagine that is why we have the separate listing). There was no reason to change that to "Eagles". It's all so wrong.

I do love Dan and am glad this album is going to be made though if Dan's fans think it will help the cause.
Agreed, although I'm not actually very familiar with Dan Fogelberg except that he sang "Longer" and "Leader of the Band" - and the latter makes me cry every time I hear it. We all need to tell our fathers we love them before it's too late.

Funk 50 bringing this up at all as some kind of "argument" as to why no one should criticize Irving Azoff is contemptible, and one Azoff himself would probably be appalled by.

It's emotional manipulation of the worst kind - it brings into your mind the visual of Glenn dying, hits you with that pain, and then implies that if you care about Glenn, you won't criticize Irving Azoff.

Considering it's employed by a man who considers the death of Glenn to be beneficial to the band, it's especially disgusting.

That's the way I see it too.

I personally don't mind the song being put out but I do agree calling it the Eagles is not the right thing to do. Not knowing much about the track means I'm going to wait and find more about it until I make my full judgement. But at the same time having the Eagles put a new track on the album would help it sell and thus help eradicate the disease. So I'm not going to complain about it. It is a matter of priorities in my opinion. I do agree with Freypower about the lack of honoring of Glenn. I felt that there should have been more done but it's not a mutually exclusive issue

I don't really want to get this too muddled with what should have been done for Glenn because that's a separate issue.

So the Grand Old Opry thing really rubs me wrong.

My guess is they used Vince to get them in. Vince has a strong connection with the Grand Old Opry. It's a shame Vince couldn't have pulled those same strings when his buddy Glenn was in the band. Ugh. XM is broadcasting it. I won't be listening. I had a friend tag me in it today, they don't know I hate the new band and I was too tired to explain so I just "liked it" so they know I saw it. It hurt.

Austin - My feelings too. Why could they have not done any of this when Glenn was still alive. I do not subsc. so I will not be able to listen to the concert.

Because when Glenn was in the band, they were busy making albums, writing songs, touring the world, nurturing their solo careers, raising young families, working in the studio, etc. In the midst of your "hate," you may not have realized that, outside of the solo gigs, they're not really doing any of those things anymore. Maybe, God forbid, they see the twilight of their careers as a chance to explore uncharted territory. It is unfortunate and tragic that Glenn cannot participate, but the band covered plenty of territory when he was there -- far more than they could ever hope to cover without him. In the eyes of many (I assume) formerly loyal fans, the band can now do no right. Either they're not doing enough to honor Glenn, or they're doing too much. Thank goodness for Don Henley, who isn't influenced by the "hate" of a vocal minority.

From what I've read too this Opry concert is also honoring the Eagles and their huge influence on country music, especially today's country artists, so they will be honoring Glenn. I too wish they would've done it while Glenn was still here. There's also rumors it might be filmed and on TV later.
