Percy was in the excellent 2013 documentary "Muscle Shoals;" I just watched it last night.

I'm very late on this, but I want express my condolences to the friends and family on the passing of Percy Sledge. His rendition of When a Man Loves a Woman is one of the most soulful R & B songs ever recorded, IMO.

He sang everything with deep feeling and soul, including country songs. It was remarkable to read that the tune to "When a Man Loves a Woman" is one that he'd been singing all his life - he sang it to comfort himself when he was a child and later when he was in the fields, working. Some people are destined to bring certain songs into the world.

One of my all-time favorite albums, every song is great:

I love, love, love "When a Man Loves a Woman"! And for me, no one could sing it like Percy Sledge. One of my all time favorite songs!

I will have to get this album. Thanks for sharing NMB!

My sympathies to his family and friends. RIP Mr. Sledge.
