Help me out here - I was just watching a cool WW video from Houston 1977 that UTW posted in Eagles thread, which I think must have been from July 1977, Randy is there and it is the only Houston date listed here - https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/tour/1976hc.htm.

It made me think of the footage in the doc where Glenn is introducing Timothy to Houston. But the next date I see they played Houston was not until February of 1980. - https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/tour/1979lr.htm

Would Timothy still be "our new bass player" after being the band for over two years and playing almost 60 shows on two different tours? Maybe that was how Glenn did the band intros every night during TLR tour...I always just assumed (wrongly, it appears) that concert in the doc was from summer or fall of 1978.

Those tour pages are not comprehensive by any means. They probably played Houston shortly after Timothy was hired. HB might know!

Oh sorry, I do not know. I was at the November 1976 concert and Randy was with them but I was not at the 1977 show nor the 1980 show. I was in love and planning a wedding. I backed out of the wedding so I should have stuck with the EAGLES - LOL!

I'm watching this doc again with GA and Bernie attributes the success of "Take It Easy" in part to people being weary of protests, Vietnam, etc. and looking to relax and feel like everything would be OK.

I guess that could be true, but not having lived through any of that, I still adore TIE... I think it's just fun, catchy, well-played and sung... a great little number.

Any thoughts?

I thought it was a huge overstatement but I was only 11 & not in the US. I was in England where glam rock was the big thing & to some extent that represented escapism.

For what it's worth this is a sample of other big hits from 1972. Apart from Alice Cooper's magnificent School's Out (one of my biggest memories from that year) a lot of it is pretty bland & non-controversial.
