I'll keep them in my prayers too. There is just too much of this happening. Of course, even one incident is too much!
It's truly sad, and scary, that those kind of incidents seem to be getting more common, even in Northern Europe, where shootings at schools/universities was rarely reported 8-10 years ago.
I heard about it and immediately though of you, Soda. Yes, it's happening way too often these days. I just can't imagine why someone would think that is a way to solve their problems. Thoughts and prayers.

I, too, immediately thought of Nancy when I heard this. Yet another tragically sad killing - these kinds of incidents are becoming way to commonplace in our society. And still - our lawmakers don't feel the need to do anything to try to fix the problems.

The victim was from here in West Bend. The community is really coming together for the family. Such a waste of a smart, talented young man. My heart breaks for the family.

A few months ago my company sent an update to our Emergency Evacuation Plans. I work in a mall, and the update had to do with what to do in case of a shooting incident. At the time I was "not gonna happen here!", but I think I've changed my mind on that upon further consideration. It seems to be happening everywhere sadly.
Sadly, no public building is immune. I work for a hospital system. A few weeks ago, we had an incident where a domestic dispute played out on our obstetric floor. An angry "dad" showed up with a gun, grabbed his newborn away from his estranged girlfriend, and proceeded to try to leave with the baby. We're all trained to respond to hostile situations, but you can never train completely since you could never possibly anticipate the actual situation.
Our employees and security did a great job talking him into handing the baby back over to an employee. The hospital went into lockdown mode to protect other patients and employees and the guy was caught within the hour by police.
