It happened to me & what you have to do is mark the forum as having been read.

Do you guys usually use the "Search for new posts" feature or go forum by forum?

I almost always use the New Posts link. It came up for me in the section that says something like 'not a recent post since your last visit but unread.' No matter how many times I read it, it stayed there, yesterday and today. Then this afternoon it stopped doing it without me having to mark anything.

Mine seems to be fixed now too - maybe because TBF posted something there this morning and took it our of it's weird vicious cycle?

It seems to be a malfunction with the "new posts" feature which has fixed itself.
