That sort of thing happens in Australia from time to time.
I was shocked earlier to read of a stabbing in my own quiet Sydney suburb (it was in the early hours of the morning and probably followed a dispute at the local pub, although the paper's website said it happened on the railway foot bridge).
I feel sorry for those young mothers who are so desperate they abandon their newborn babies, but -29 degrees...
Julie, that's awful about the stabbing so close to your home.
In California we have safe surrender sites. These buildings have a placard in the window identifing them. People in this unfortunate situation can drop off a child there, no questions asked. (Or so they say.)
We have had a very sad tragedy in Ireland. No-one known to me personally, but some of you may have heard that the bodies of an entire young family of 4 were found in their home in Co Wexford yesterday morning. 2 Adults and 2 girls aged 3 and 5. What is more worrying is the facts which have emerged over the last day or so. It appears to have been a suicide pact by the parents who actually made funeral arrangements for the whole family last Friday. When they did so, the undertaker alerted the Authorities, who did try, but unfortunately couldn't stop the tragedy.

How terrible. I feel for the family left behind. Suicide, leaves so many "would of/should of's" for the people who loved them. To include their children in their pact is an incredibly selfish act. How tragic that know one could have seen the signs ahead of time and gotten the parents the help they needed. Their family is in my thoughts.Originally Posted by Glennsallnighter
This really is very sad. It really does make you "wonder at the powers that be" when things like this happen. It's inexplicable to me.
