I was looking through my Facebook memories, and I came across this poem I wrote after Glenn passed. I thought I'd share it here again.
You first had a peaceful easy feeling and took it easy in 1972.
You were an outlaw man in 1973.
You sang about another tequila sunrise in 1973.
You became already gone in 1974.
You paid your respects to James Dean in 1974.
You told us that we can't hide our lyin' eyes in 1975.
You were a new kid in town in 1977.
You had a heartache tonight in 1979.
You sang about the one you love in 1982.
You went to Partytown in 1982.
You had the smuggler's blues in 1984.
You sang about being an allnighter in 1984.
The heat was on for you in 1985.
You belonged to the city in 1985.
You were livin' right in 1988.
You sang about true love in 1988.
You went to flip city for the Ghostbusters 2 movie in 1989.
You sang about the long hot summer in LA in 1992.
You were on a river of dreams in 1992.
You got over it 1994.
You wanted to be called on in 1995.
You didn't want there to be anymore cloudy days in 2004(or 2007)
You wondered how long in 2007.
You told your daughter (and us) that we aren't alone in 2007.
You dreamed that there was no more war in 2007.
You got your kicks on route 66 in 2012.
You told us about the history of your band in 2013.
Now, in 2016, you belong to the ages.
RIP to Eagles founder, guitarist, and vocalist Glenn Frey, Nov. 6th, 1948- Jan. 18th, 2016. Thank you for doing those things for us! Your music will live on!

People don't run out of dreams, People just run out of time
Thank you for posting this thread, Dreamer. I enjoyed reading all the posts, especially the favorites from those who shared. Still can't believe it's five years...
I am a day late on this. I have been reading all the beautiful posts and they brought tears to my eyes. I can't believe it has been five years. No celebrity's death affected me as much as Glenn's did. I still feel sad when I think of his passing. His music brought joy to so many people and when never be forgotten. Thanks for posting this thread Dreamer, I loved reading everyone's thoughts.
Here are my favorites from each album :
Eagles- Take It Easy
Desperado- Tequila Sunrise and Doolin Dalton / Desperado Reprise
On the Border- Ol' 55 and After The Thrill Is Gone
One of these Nights- Lyin' Eyes
Hotel California- New Kid in Town
The Long Run- Heartache Tonight
Long Road out of Eden- How Long (Somebody, for a Glenn only song)
I'm sorry I am late, but my heart aches as this anniversary of five years is among us. What a loss, the posts everyone shared are beautiful. Still can't believe he is gone
Thanks for the kind remarks. I spent the entire day looking for info and posting here and in Glenn's photo thread. But, I am not complaining - it was a labor of love and my own personal tribute to Glenn's legacy.
I ran out of time before I could post everything I wanted so I may add a few things to the thread later.

Glenn Frey 11/06/1948 - 01/18/2016
My goodness Soda and Dreamer, that is a magnificent tribute to Glenn that you have posted. I've really enjoyed browsing through the thread and reliving some of the more important milestones of his life and music both solo and with the Eagles.
I also took some time on the 18th to commemorate him.
Every year for the week that encompasses his anniverary I make a point pf playing a different one of his solo albums and this year was no different. I also lit candles for him at the memorial table I have set up for him in my dining room, and I wore my 'Glenn Freyday' t-shirt.
I've been back practising my guitar since the last lockdown started so of course on the 18th I dedicated my practise time tp Glenn 's music.
And on a number of radio programmes that I was listening to (a small advantahe of working from home) the presenters mentioned Glenn's anniversary and played Eagles songs. One even played TOYL which I thought was a lovely choice.
As for favourite songs - I love all Glenn 's songs - Its so hard to pick a favourites - it really IS like having to favouritise one of your children! But I will try over the next few days!
Glenn will always be my favourite musician of all times. The evening I heard news of his death was the worst experience I have ever had but the sharp shock has somewhat abated into a dull heart ache that will always live with me. But it is so wonderful to be here and still see the outpouring of genuine love that everyone has for him.
'I must be leaving soon... its your world now'
