One of the most senior and polarizing members of the United States' high court, Conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, was found dead at his ranch in Texas earlier today. He was 79 years old.

The court vacancy triggered by his death sets off a rather ugly political firestorm with many far-reaching and long lasting ramifications. Complicating matters further is the fact that 2016 is an election year here in America.

Sad to see such an admittedly colourful character pass away, and am of course sad for the family. Agree or disagree with his views, the Supreme Court and the country have lost an iconic figure.
