For me TDB is a much better album overall than AMLoR, though AMLoR has the best single song ('Sorrow').

The magnificent Superstition stands alone. I Just Called... while pleasant enough, is like Phil Collins' Against All Odds; not representative of the artist at all.

Both are great, but it has to be Highway Star, which is my favourite Deep Purple song and one of my all-time favourites. The song is brilliant from start to finish, and the guitar and organ solos are exceptional IMO.

I've never done one like this before, or seen anyone else do anything similar, but think I'll give it a try:

Preferred year in music: 1973 or 1975?

(I chose those two years as a number of my favourites were released then)

1975 has better albums than 1973 (in my opinion) for a number of artists. Eagles, Pink Floyd, Paul McCartney. I think I'll go for 1975.

I would have answered 1973 for Band On The Run & Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (and also Selling England By The Pound) and Desperado. The Eagles'1975 album was my least favourite of theirs & I cannot think of another album from that year apart from Status Quo's On The Level that I still play (wait a second.. .Wish You Were Here & Desire)?

The 1980s when Genesis & Dire Straits were so big, easily beat the 1990s.

I pick WOLD after listening to those songs for the first time. I just like it better than Taxi's slower sound.

I don't own either of these; I'm not a fan. But I grew up with Highway To Hell (the song) so that is my choice.

Born on the Bayou as Mark Hart used to sing it live for Crowded House.

I loved them both but on that song I prefer Freddie's part. Overall Freddie was a better singer than David as well. David was a bit mannered on occasion.
