It's late, but I wanted to get everything down.
I think the band sort of took on the sunny San Diego laid-back vibe, they seemed very relaxed and happy, yet vigorous and energetic. Nobody seemed sick, except Glenn did have a sneezing, runny nose issue at one point that lasted for a bit, but not when he needed to sing.
I'll start with Glenn - his voice was excellent, very strong. Hit all of the high notes in NKIT, really superb. Really could not have sounded better. No comment on his attire - the same. All of the jokes came out, as did "that's damn funny", which I think is funny. Glenn's faux-Spanish accent when introducing TBS, "from Sacrrraaamennto, Caleeefornya" is good, too. When he was introduced he did lots of the hilarious Detroit dancing, and then exhorted the crowd to clap more for his moves. He stuck in a "bitch" after "a rich old man, she won't have to worry," and everyone laughed. He spoke very kindly about Randy before TITTL.
Don - ditto on the voice. His voice was not "hoarse" or "raspy" as some reviewers remark - it was strong and clear. I mean, it was his unique Don Henley voice, but the best version of it. Really, really good. His falsetto on OOTN was really crazy - it was pitch perfect. Plaid shirts? Hair and goatee looked good.
Joe - Light blue Jimi Hendrix T-shirt the whole show, I think. Voice sounded great. He had to slyly remove the talk box thingy from his mic after RMW when he started singing the ooh oohs for Desperado and it was still on there. His pelvis thrusting/tongue wagging schtick with Glenn was absolutely hilarious (and disgusting). He had the hat cam.
Timothy - The jeans were tight, the purple t-shirt was short, the hair was very long, the gold earring was in...sigh!! For the second half he had on a really sharp dark blue button down with a wide yellow check - I don't think I've seen it before, it looked brand new? Nice chest view, and stomach view when he raised up his bass over his head (!). He looked really young - I don't know if he's had some face treatments or teeth bleaching or what, but his face and everything about him just looked young and relaxed. ICTYW was...meh, to be honest. Not the best version. But, LWKUA was excellent. For both songs, the crowd went berserk after, like, nuts. Before either LBG or Funk 49 (I forget which), I saw Timothy put a coin (?) on Scott Crago's right-hand cymbal and when Scott eventually hit it during the song the coin flew up in the air and he caught it, then threw it at Timothy's back. This sounds familiar, may have heard about it before.
For Steph - Will Hollis looked particularly fetching, with long hair and a light beard and mustache. Very handsome.
Hubby was very impressed by Scott Crago, said a couple of times how "awesome that guy is" - I think when he moves over to Don's kit he just really kicks it up a notch. He seemed to know a lot of people in the crowd, or maybe he just acts like that.
I had asked in another thread if it is Timothy and Glenn singing the "they're lookin at you, leaning on you" part in Those Shoes. In the show, TBS, Glenn AND Don sung that part, around Don's "they give you tablets of love." Love that song, especially that little part.
And finally, I could not decide - what do you think the guys do after a show in San Diego? It is a 2 1/2 hour drive with no traffic from the arena in San Diego to Timothy's town, a little closer to the Palisades if that's where Glenn still lives - there is no way they are doing that drive departing at almost midnight with Saturday night traffic on the 405. There is also no way they are staying over at a hotel in San Diego. So which is it, private jet to LAX, which still leaves an hour of travel time, or, dare I say, helicopter????!! What thinks you? Eh, maybe they just take a car, but they won't get home until really late and will be on the freeway for 3 hours.
A guy in the next row got kicked out for being drunk, right after DD, and after Don and Glenn told him to put his phone away. The guards waited for the song to end, the four people at the end of the aisle hopped out of their seats, and about 5 guys escorted him out. Glenn was glaring!!! I was scared. Then later, the couple right across the aisle got kicked out - she got caught 3rd time with the phone out. Other than those two things right by me, it was mellow. Not as frantic as LA with the guards jumping all over everyone. The fans simply didn't have their phones out and nobody stood up until told to by TBS. Super mellow surfer crowd, LOL.
It was great. Much PEW to ensue. Back to reality, nothing to look forward to.
