Computer crash
Just after posting this morning, I went on Ebay and wasted some time searching on Eagles. At some stage an odd message came up, and I closed it, but when I came to reboot my laptop a whole operating system had disappeared, and half a day's work by David, the computer guru, has failed to bring it back. His research suggests it was a virus that eluded our antiviral software (or more likely, I clicked the wrong response). So, now we have had to wipe the hard disk - all my recent saved downloads and photos gone...bummer. Luckily I have backed up earlier stuff onto Cd-roms and a memory stick, so all is not completely lost.
Moral - back up stuff on Cds from time to time.
In the meantime I am using the main computer.

Re: Computer crash
Oh, Kate -- how horrible! I know how frustrating that can be. Thanks for the reminder to back everything up -- that's one chore I frequently overlook.

Be they pastries or lobsters or love;
I'm just tryin' to get by being quiet and shy,
In a world full of pushin' and shove.

Re: Computer crash
Thanks everyone. My clever husband has reloaded all the software so I'm back on line, but I've lost a load of stuff including recent emails and photos. Thank goodness for those backups I had done, and for photobucket!
All in all, it could have been a lot worse.
