Gotta love pups!
We had to put our dog Joey to sleep today. He was 16. I know we did the right thing, but it is still hard. He has had several issues, and I knew the time was coming. He didn't get up at all yesterday, would not eat or drink. He just looked like he was ready to go. I would never let him suffer. He was the last of our hero dogs. When we had a house fire, we had 3 dogs. They woke us up and we were out of the house before the smoke alarms went off. I may have told this story before. If so I apologize, but it helps to talk about him. We had him since he was 8 weeks old. 16 years is a long time. Our other dog keeps walking around and crying. I think he's looking for Joey. Thanks for listening.
So sorry to hear that SG....
Oh, SG I'm so sorry. My cat is also 16 and we got him at about 7 weeks. It makes me not want to have pets, I just never get over it when they die. If I close my eyes, I can still feel the height, fur, and bodies of my dog and cat who died 20 and 5 years ago respectively. Sounds like you did the exact right thing with Joey, you are a good pet owner.
I'm so sorry for your loss, SG. Losing a furry family member is always horrible. You gave Joey a loving, wonderful home for 16 years, and he knew he was loved. Can't get much better than that.
SG, I'm so sorry about your loss. I know it is very hard to lose a pet and especially one you have had for so long. He knew he was loved.
