I didn't participate in this game but I'm glad ODAAT won. Ever since hearing it live at Farewell 1 (my first Eagles concert) I've loved it. It helps me get through tough times, too, so congratulations, One Day At A Time!

I just mean very very polished and "overproduced" (but not the same overproduced that Joe has talked about being unhuman)... Some of his other albums are a bit more raw sounding and not so "polished"... It just reminds me of the same polish that's on other Lynne work like ELO or Traveling Wilburys. It's very smooth, etc. JMO. But I hear a lot of that polished stuff on whatever Lynne does. Nothing wrong with it really, but vastly different than Joe's other works as far as the sound goes, which have a less polished raw sound and less perfected. I like that.
Austin, I agree with you that this album is a lot more polished than Joe's previous works, but when was the last time he put out an album???
I'm not sure the year, anyway I think that today EVERYTHING is a bit more polished than it used to be. I don't know that it's necessarily Jeff Lynne that makes the difference, but albums these days do not have that raw sound that they did before....It's the digital age, remember, not analog! Analog does sound different. I think any album on vinyl sounds different
In my opinion the problem with this album is not the production but the quality of some of the songs & in a few cases the rehash of old ideas, for example Funk 50 is a remake of Funk #49 & Lucky That Way is a thinly disguised remake of Life's Been Good, while Fishbone I'm afraid brings back happy memories of songs like I.L.B.Ts & I Broke My Leg. As for the inclusion of But I Try.... I find it inexplicable.
I'm sorry if this is an unpopular opinion & I won't mention it again.

Congrats to One Day At A Time!
I glad it won, but I really love Wrecking Ball, Lucky That Way and Analog Man, too. I'm glad they finished in the top four!
I didn't make a list this time and just went with the flow and am very happy with how it all turned out!
Fun game, thanks for playing everyone!

Listen to ELO or Traveling Wilburys and you'll hear what I mean. It's pretty recognizable as being a Jeff Lynne record.
You are right about the digital world, that said there are some bands that have a much less polished sound and very old school rawness. I'm just not a Jeff Lynne fan. His "sound" he puts on records is not for me.
That said, I do like a lot of the songs on this record and love ODAAT and WB.
