In the lead up to the Glastonbury festival, I watched/skimmed a tv programme called Glastonbury Golden Greats. It made me think of Glenn, in particular.
Tony Bennett - apparently Glenn listens and sings along with Tony Bennett in the car.
Al Green - from One of These Nights through to True Love, Glenn had a fixation with Al Green - it's where all those falsettos come from.
James Brown - in 1992, Glenn had a picture of James Brown in his recording studio as inspiration. He also told a story about an encounter with JB on a TV appearance.
Brian Wilson - both Glenn and Timothy have recorded Caroline No, and clearly Glenn was influenced by The Beach Boys.
B.B. King - Don Felder saw him play when Don was a young man and Glenn played with King years later.
Kenny Rogers - this time, it's Don Henley and Shiloh.
Paul Simon - just a tenous link with that photo of Glenn and Paul Simon at a party.
(Other artists include Johnny Cash, Tom Jones and Shirley Bassey, but I couldn't find a link with everyone)
