She sounds and looks fabulous. Very very jealous of you and EF. I'm praying FM tours next year so I can go or that she does a solo show close to me (Central IL).
Yeah, nothing pisses me off more than when people post videos of Stevie being awesome.
Word on the street is that, barring physical issues, FM will be touring next year. They'll surely hit Chicago. She sounds and looks fabulous. Very very jealous of you and EF. I'm praying FM tours next year so I can go or that she does a solo show close to me (Central IL).
As for a solo show, Stevie is playing Chicago August 23: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/04...S:735755:32892
I just meant that because you already posted some, LOL.
If Mac does tour next year that will be GREAT. Unfortunately I can't get to the solo show this month. I've got a bunch going on that week with appointments and also supposedly supposed to have a jam with some friends.
Thanks for posting the videos! They are great!

Thanks for the awesome reviews and videos everyone. Glad Nancy and Zoe had a chance to chat at the show. It's always a treat to meet other fans in person! Glad Stevie was awesome as usual!

I agree Dreamer. As awesome as the show must have been, it's nice that two Borderers got a chance to meet.

And I dream I'm on vacation 'Cause I like the way that sounds,
It's a perfect occupation for me.
Well, my review, finally! I figured I'd better hurry up and write it because I'm about to see Stevie again in Cincinnati on Saturday! (Also, I happened to notice on "This Day in Eagles History" that the Eagles played Red Rocks on this day in 1975).
It was opening night at Red Rocks, Colorado. Stevie had once done a concert here in 1986 released on video, so the location is already special... but the place is gorgeous... absolutely magnificent. I took some photos before the show:
You had to park pretty far away:
Walking up the mountainside to get to the venue
The view behind me before the crowd had started really filling in (the place eventually was packed):
I was just wow'ed! Amazing!
The opening act was the guy who won America's Got Talent, Michael Grimm. I missed most of his set because that was when I went to talk to EaglesFanatic.
Then the song Stand Back started, Stevie came out in a glorious red cape, and it was time to rock!
The setlist:
Stand Back
Annabel Lee
Dreams
Sorcerer
Moonlight
Gold Dust Woman
Ghosts Are Gone
Soldier's Angel
In Your Dreams
Rhiannon
For What It's Worth
Secret Love
Leather and Lace (done with her vocal coach)
Edge of Seventeen
Love Is
Stevie was "on" right from the get-go. When she came out, she said the concert that she did at Red Rocks in 1986 "saved her life" and the place held a special meaning for her, so she loved being here and thought it was perfect to start her tour at Red Rocks.
EF did a great review, so I won't repeat what she said, but the "mystery" song is "Secret Love." I guess it really is a secret, eh? My friend joked that the reason she can't remember who it was about was because she was dating so many men at the time (it was the 70s lol).
I wasn't sure if "Soldier's Angel" would work without Lindsey and I don't like the song on the album, but after she does that powerful intro about visiting the military hospital and pours her heart into the song (which she called her most "sacred" and "revered"), it's impossible to remain unmoved.
"Leather and Lace" with the vocal coach wasn't really doing it for me, but you could see how thrilled HE was to be actually onstage instead of behind the scenes, so I was happy for him.
The crowning moment of the night for me was "Edge of Seventeen." She came out in a beautiful white dress (unusual for Stevie in recent years). As the song built, the wind picked up, and by the end when she was screaming "I KNOW WHAT IT SOUNDS LIKE!" the wind was blowing full-blast like she had freaking summoned it, her hair flying behind her. It was so dramatic and she soaked it up and reflected it back in her voice and it was just WOW.... unforgettable. In fact, despite the fact that I didn't get to touch her hand as she passed by, I think it was the most memorable version of "Edge of Seventeen" I've ever witnessed.
"Love Is" has special meaning for my friend, who just lost her brother to an accidental drug overdose a month ago (he was only 27). It's a song about having to say goodbye to someone that you love, and the grief that comes with that. As Stevie sang, "knowing that it must seem to you like your angel's arms.." my friend started crying. She cried for the rest of the song. I gave her a hug. Later, she said the song helped her with her grief and was very cathartic for her. It's one of the many reasons I love Stevie's music - it can help people heal.
An amazing show - so glad I went!
