Composer Marvin Hamlisch has died at age 68.
Never heard of him but RIP
rest in peace. he was a great composer
But you've probably heard his work without knowing it. He won a Tony Award and a Pulitzer for composing the music for A Chorus Line (one of my all-time favorite shows); won an Oscar for the score for and song The Way We Were, and as Freypower mentioned, adapted Scott Joplin's rags for The Sting. The list goes on and on. He was a wonderfully talented man.

Yes he was a talented guy who loved the theater.
He also wrote Memories from the way we were.
God just needed a great composer in his heaven.
rest in peace
He's an Oscar, Tony, Emmy , Grammy & Puliter Prize Winner.....A huge loss to the entertainment industry....

I was just reading an article about him over the weekend. I was surprised to learn he was only 68. I actually thought he was older, I guess because we've been hearing his name for decades.
RIP Marvin.
He sings it high, he plays it low
Even though he was a composer, he was on TV quite a bit, on variety shows and such. As soon as I read his name here his face popped into my head. I had to read about which compositions were his, though. RIP.

And I dream I'm on vacation 'Cause I like the way that sounds,
It's a perfect occupation for me.
