    Default Dobie Gray passes away

I was able to see Dobie a couple of times, he was at a Volunteer Jam I attended, one of several held by Charlie Daniels in Tennessee. I loved "Drift Away", also covered by Uncle Kracker. Dobie had such a nice, smooth style. He wrote a lot of hits for other artists too.

I hadn't heard the name before but I'd heard the song. Just purchased it off iTunes. RIP, Dobie!

According to Wikipedia, this is Dobie's second biggest hit, and is a song I prefer to 'Drift away'.

Drift Away was also covered by Rod Stewart on the Atlantic Crossing album.

As I said one, my favortite Artists and Bands (being myself a Child of the 70's) keep falling and pretty fast IMO... Fogelberg, Rafferty, Gold?, Peeks, Orbison, Palmer, Zevon, Delp to name a few...

May they RIP and Thank you for the Memories!

I remember it it was 1987 and I was at a Bon Jovi concert when they sang Drift Away as one of their Encore songs. Even though I had heard the song prior to that day, I fell in love w/it that night.

RIP Dobie... your music lives on!
