Do we know why his wife took her life so shortly after being married and their son so young? Did he end up raising him alone then? How many times has Jackson been married? Are you tired of my questions yet and want me to look this stuff up myself?

I remember your story about hubby calling a song out to him and he playing it. Very cool. Also very cool that hubby chose that song. Was it because you loved it so much? I don't remember the exact story.

One more question----any Jackson Browne biographies or autobiographies out there I should add to my collection?
    Lol TBF!

Ironically, one of the few albums I do not have is Lawyers In Love. As I've mentioned before, I'm not really a fan of the song, and always make a point to skip it. Late For the Sky seems to be thought of as the favorite of most JB fans; however, my favorite is For Everyman, because when I listen to those early songs it takes me back to that time in the early 70's of good folk rock. I like to listen to the album as it was recorded without shuffling the songs to maintain the total feel of the album. In fact, some of the songs run right into the next one.

As much as I love Jackson Browne, I have never read a book about him. I guess I don't really get into those that much. This page will give you a brief but interesting biography.

Hubby chose to request Sleep's Dark and Silent Gate because it's one of his faves. He also chose to request My Stunning Mystery Companion, which led me to think that he had a tendency to choose the wordiest, hardest to spit out songs that Jackson sings! Here's what I wrote about our Horseshoe Casino, Hammond, IN show last year...

Hubby's second request choice for this show was My Stunning Mystery Companion. He really knows how to pick 'em doesn't he? Very wordy titles. Hubby has a voice for radio and all week long he had been comically 'practicing' his request. Out of nowhere he would leap up from his recliner and shout, "MY STUNNING MYSTERY COMPANION!." Toward the end of the show I decided to help him out because JB had not done it yet, so along with a barrage of other requests from the audience we shouted out in unison, "MY STUNNING MYSTERY COMPANION!" to no avail. Oh well, I understood that Jackson had to pretend he was interested in what others wanted to hear besides Hubby and I.

I'm laughing out loud while reading about hubby jumping up and screaming song titles at home, practicing. I had forgotten that story. Too funny!!!!

Thanks for the bio page, heading there now to read it.

I had no clue he had so much stuff out there!!!! WOW!! They mentioned stuff I knew about but had forgotten about. I need to get on a downloading spree and get some of it on my iTunes.

I found the video they mentioned from Jay Leno in 1999 with Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby, Shawn Colvin and David Lindley doing End Of The Innocence. I'm sure you've all seen it but thought I'd post it again.

Ironically, as I type this, I'm listening to Sirius channel The Bridge and they are playing Rock Me On The Water.

I've never seen it before, either. I wish Jackson had sung a bit more of it but hey, it's Bruce's song.

I have to confess I have not read ALL of this thread yet, (I'm up to page 20) but when I saw it had to share something... After The Eagles show on Sunday night, it struck me that I have had the priviledge of seeing Take It Easy performed live by both Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey.

JB came out here in 1996 on the Looking East tour. I saw him at Sun City, and it was a brilliant show. He kept saying things like "I can't believe you guys know that song..." I guess playing here was still a bit of an unknown back then. But he seemed to be having a great time and enjoying himself.

This is also why the Looking East album has a special place for me, but my favourite JB album has to be I'm Alive, hands down... Sky Blue and Black is one of those songs that bring a lump to my throat every time I hear it.

Steve, I am so happy to see you posting in this thread! I'm Alive is a GREAT album - not a bad song on it. After I saw JB in 2010, (which you will soon be reading about if you continue to read the entire thread) I was determined to get every one of his albums. But to be honest, there are some I'm not sure I care to have.

Here are the ones I have...

    Jackson Browne (Saturate Before Using)
    For Everyman
    Late For the Sky
    The Pretender
    Running On Empty
    I'm Alive
    The Naked Ride Home
The Very Best of Jackson Browne
    Solo Accoustic Vol. 1
    Solo Accoustic Vol. 2
    Time the Conqueror

and the ones I don't have...

Hold Out (I used to have it on cassette but never cared to replace it. The
song Disco Apocalypse is enough of a stinker to keep me away.)
    Lawyers In Love
    Lives In the Balance
    World In Motion
    Looking East
The Next Voice You Hear: The Best of Jackson Browne
    Here (single)
Love Is Strange (with David Lindley)

I'm glad your '96 show was great. He really seems like a good guy - very down to earth.

Thanks Cathy... I promise I am working my way through this and several other threads at the moment... With regard to the albums you have (yes, I show my age when I say 'albums', but despite enjoying having a digital database of my music, I still love buying CD's) The Naked Ride Home is arguably my second favourite. Not only the songs but the production on that is astounding... I have yet to hear a sound system that can faithfully replicate and play the track 'Sergio Leone'. I love Looking East, as I saw many songs from that live, of course, and I also like Lives In The Balance. BUT... That is one of many albums from the Eighties crying out for a decent remastering... Not the best production.

I totally love Jackson and have been a fan since the 70's. I love The Pretender album, but I think Late for the Sky and Running on Empty are his best albums. His concerts are moving as well as upbeat. I haven't seen him live in a long time, but every time I have seen him, he was amazing.
Thanks for posting those videos. Reminds me of how great he is!
