Seriously? It happens all the time on this board. You don't have to go any further than this thread to read many of us prejudging Don's new album. But, in my opinion, it's certainly no big deal and nothing really wrong with it. It's just something we fans do.

Me too! I have no doubt that I'll love it -- I just wish it'd come out already! Patience may be virtue, but it's not one of mine.

There isn't enough other country songs out there that he could do.

I'm still awaiting patiently for the soul album. I really think Don's voice just screams soul music. My opinion, of course.
I'll buy whatever Don puts out...but I'm with you TBF...would much rather hear him doing soul...

I was thinking that I got Mom After Hours for Mother's Day, Don's new CD would be perfect for her birthday. Maybe she'll get it as a stocking stuffer. (Her birthday is the end of this month).

I don't mind that he's doing some country songs, but remaking Eagles songs is another story. Why would he want to do that? I don't get it at all and I won't buy that. I love all the Eagles songs as they are, no need for remaking!

You know, I really can't even listen to the Uncommon Thread album. I don't want to hear anyone sing those songs except the Eagles. But that's just me.

I am so ready for this album to come out! I am a country fan and I can imagine Don doing some beautiful country songs. I actually don't have a problem with him (or any of the guys) remaking Eagles songs. They won't necessarily be better, or even try to be, they will just be different. Artists do it all the time. For some people it's almost sacrilege... but I don't see it that way. The original song will always exist, no matter how you cover it! Sometimes it's good to branch out and try old things in a new way. I'm sure he will be very respectful of the chosen tracks - after all, he was involved in the writing of them and has sung them more times than he cares to remember! They are his babies, as well as ours.

Can I add Lyle Lovett's name to the list? If he and Don did something together, I would probably explode with excitement! Love his voice and his style of music. I can totally hear Don covering a Lyle song like "Don't You Think I Feel It Too" or "Loretta", although I have the feeling he is going to go further back to the classics, like Merle and George (which I'm just as happy about!)

As I've mentioned before, I heard him do a live cover of Emmylou Harris's "Too Far Gone" and it was one of the most gorgeous things I've ever heard. I keep hoping that song will be included on this album.

At the Santa Barbara Bowl last year Don & Emmylou sang 'Too far gone' together. That should be on the album. At the time I wished they'd sang 'Love Hurts' but maybe she wouldn't want to sing it with anyone else after the amazing version she did with Gram Parsons.

Anxiously awaiting Don's new album. And I don't mind it if he redoes some Eagles songs. I'm sure whatever he does will be great.
