    Default The eagle medallions

    I was showing my dad photos of their early years from the new book and showed him the medallions they had. Anyone know where I can get him one?

    I believe that they were special made just for the members of the band. We've had a lengthy discussion on the board before about them but I don't remember where. I will try to find it and link it here later.

    Hmmmm, working from memory here so I could be "off"

    Wasn't that medallion one of only 4 or 5 ever cast? I think that it was done back in the early years to give the band members more of a sense of belonging to something....to unify them as a band.

    Now you got me curious! I'll have to go back and dig out the details now...but sadly I fear that if you found one of these for sale on eBay, it would be a counterfeit replica. Can't imagine Meisner, Leadon, Henley or Frey ever turning loose of one of the originals!

    ITA Mike - I'd bet that it's no accident that the medallions were never photographed up close for that very reason.

    That's actually the best shot of the medallion in my galleries. You can even make out the world "EAGLES" on it and the outline of the bird. I sure would like to examine Don's bare chest... um, medallion... more closely.
