Now I'm thinking of getting my mom a cat. Though I won't stay away for long months anymore I still go on business trips and vacation, and it would be great for my mom to have some company and also some task. A dog may be a bit demanding though, so I thought of a cat.

I think it's a good idea, SG. She doesn't feel alone then when you're not at home. And it's said cats have a reassuring effect on humans.
