    OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I don't believe it!

Underdogs Ireland have beaten Australia 15 - 6!

Well done to Ireland and of course commiserations to a gallant Australian team.

I had a feeling they would pull something out of the bag. You could tell how fired up the Irish side were - especially Brian O'Driscoll. It's his last World Cup, so he wanted to leave a mark! I was on the edge of my seat, cheering them on. So, so happy that they won. A truly courageous performance. I hope England show the same intensity, grit and passion tomorrow.

Thanks, Lis - I'm relieved that we got a win today. It should have been a given against Georgia, but after England's last performance, I was a bit nervous! Anyway, we had some discipline issues, but overall, we did fairly well. I do worry about how we will compete with teams of a higher level if we don't improve, but for today, we secured a win with a big points margin. I'm not going to be too critical.

Switching to NFL, I would have loved to have seen the Colts and the Cardinals get wins today. Unfortunately that didn't happen, although the Cards only lost by a single point. I feel for the Colts at the moment - I really hope they can get a win to get some confidence back, but they're obviously having a difficult time. Got my fingers crossed that Peyton makes a good and full recovery after his neck surgery. It looks like he will be out for a while yet, though.

Well its been a great week for Sport if you're from Dublin (a Dub). The Dublin senior Gaelic football team made it into their first All Ireland final in years, against the old enemy Kerry. Dublin and Kerry between them have won more All Irelands than the other 32 county teams put together. Tickets for the event were retailing at over €1000 each coming up to Sunday's final.

The match was excellent, with the lead changing 5 times over the course, and with 6 minutes to go Kerry were starting to inch away. Suddenly Dublin got a goal (3 points) and another point to draw level. At fulltime the teams were level and remained so for a minute and a half of the injury 2 mins extra. The Dublin were awarded a free kick 'in'. They pushed all their men forward and got their keeper up to take the free. the whole city was silent as he kicked the ball.................................

............................... over the bar!!!!! The whistle blew just at the restart, and Dublin won the Sam Maguire cup for the first time in 16 years.

The city has been celebrating since, the kids have forgotten what homework is and there was a civic reception attended by 40,000 people (myself and Chris included) last night.

Here's a few pics of the revelry!

Dublin Captain Bryan Cullen lifts the cup.

    The team!

(I need a back and shoulder massage after that... any volunteers.... Glenn ....... ?)

The cup (again). This is what its all about!

(Its that silver thing in the middle)

Thanks for indulging.... most of you probably haven't a clue what I'm on about......!

My St. Louis Cardinals are in a battle for a spot in the National League Division baseball playoffs and during the game the other night this little guy made an appearance on the field. You've probably seen it already, but just in case:

Wish us luck. Tonight will decide who goes.

Cardinals Country is in party mode today after last night's clinch of the National League pennant.

St.Louis has issued a Freese Warning to the Texas Rangers!

Congrats guys on making a historic comeback after a major slump in August!

As a New Zealander, this is one of the most beautiful sights. Ever.

Relief and celebration - after 24 years, the Rugby World Cup is finally ours again:

And a glimpse (from the victory parade) of the atmosphere we've had in New Zealand over the last seven weeks. So many supporters have travelled so far to see their teams; so many players have played their hearts out.
