I think there was a vague point that he thought the support acts on the tour were going to take over and show the Eagles up - that the support acts were so good the Eagles were unnecessary and that eventually the Eagles would withdraw from the tour. That is what I read underneath all the ranting - hence the obsession with how long the DCs would play.
