Well, I actually liked Slaughter back in the day, but this cover just doesn't do the original justice, IMHO. Part of the song's appeal is how rough and raw it is - all the extra layers of noise obscure that.

Yes, I believe so. It sounds like the same recordings and looks like the same set and clothes from the Etta James vids I've seen of that concert. And might I just say.. LOOK at that boy wearing those leather pants.. HOT-DAY-um!! he wears those so good... *G*
I know, he looks freaking hot in those, especially when he loses that jacket!
