Ya know, I'm a little peeved about this.

All this talk and speculation about an album and tour and now they have announced solo tour dates! They had to know some time ago they weren't touring together to get all these dates scheduled! I just checked the Illinois State Fair (2 hours from me) grandstand list and Joe isn't listed on it yet. That date is blank. I'm sure it will show up soon, but it takes time to set these things up.

Why have they been leading us on like this?

Well, perhaps the album is still coming out soon, and they've delayed touring... hope remains alive.

But as far as being peeved, there has never been an official announcement, which is what I've waited for before getting my hopes up.

I don't believe Don intended to lead us on with his announcement earlier this year that the album would be done at this time, and they'd tour in the summer. I think he genuinely believed that at the time. However, anything can happen to delay such things. Perhaps it was rash for Don to make that announcement, but that doesn't mean he was trying to lead us on. Glenn's rather non-commital "two..three..four months" at Pebble Beach was enough to make me realize that Don's date was by no means cemented.

These solo dates can be set up relatively quickly in venues like casinos. Look at how close these dates are to the ticket sales. The fact that they came all at once bespeaks of a recent determination that an Eagles tour would not happen anytime soon rather than one made much earlier. Unfortunately it does also imply that a tour will not happen in the fall either, necessarily, because the type of venues the Eagles play do indeed require months to reserve and set up. Again, though, we can still hope.

We can also still hope for an album in the summer, but counting on it before there has been an official announcement invites disappointment. While I understand your frustration, I don't think anger against the band is necessarily warranted (IMHO).

I'm not really angry about all this anymore. What I feel is perhaps far worse... growing indifference. I don't want to feel this way but it's very hard to maintain any kind of enthusiasm.

First of all, tbs, you are definately not the only 'senior' on the board. But we can't let that stop us! I'm ready to go whenever the band is.

I certainly understand the frustration many fans are feeling about the album and new tour dates. As for myself, I am somewhat disappointed, but not really surprised. I told myself not to listen to all the different rumors and speculation that have been floating around in the fan community for quite sometime. Regardless of what information anyone claims to have, I will not believe anything except for an official announcement from the band. As I said earlier in this thread, when the different band members can't even agree on the date, then it's obvious to me that there is no set date. Yet, just this year alone, I've heard fans and even some media sources throw out the months of February, May, and June for the album's release date. (If I missed any, I apologize. ) IMO, it is careless for people to publically claim they have information from inside sources. Even when people are given 'insider tips', this kind of information is unreliable, at best. All it does is set false expectations and only serves to get people's hopes up. I know everyone is anxious for a 'scoop' and that is natural, but I am going to continue to disregard anything unless it comes directly from the band.

Or I could start a rumor - "I heard today from a source that is almost always right that the new album will be out in July. If it isn't out in July, then it will be August, and if it isn't out in August, then it will be September, and if it isn't out...." At least if the album is released at all, then I can say "See I told you my source is almost always right."

Seriously though, I haven't completely given up hope that the album will be released this year. And if it's not, I'll just have to keep listening to the old stuff. If it's released by early fall, there may be time to get in a few tour dates as well.

    Sound words, dreamer.

Brooke's Stevie Nicks thread reminded me that I had a copy of that Eagles "Off The Record" interview from October 2006. I had thought it was incomplete, but in fact I have the whole interview. I know it's going back in time, but back then, Timothy was quoted as saying not to expect anything before the end of 2007. Maybe his and Joe's estimates have been a bit more realistic.

Nancy, I'll send a copy of the interview to you.

I have sort of a friend who loves Pebble Beach to bits and goes there every year to see the pros but also to collect signatures from as many celebrities as possible . I asked him to ask Glenn for the release date of the album in case he got the chance cause I was so looking forward to the album for so long already. So my friend told me he got a minute and asked, however Glenn’s reaction wasn’t exactly encouraging. He said something like “If it was for Henley it will be Christmas”.
I was bummed when he told me and somehow it took some enthusiasm out of me .

He told the interviewer at Pebble Beach '2/3/4 months'. The way it stands now it's looking more like it will be towards the end of the year.
