Brooke, my girl, I miss you all too . Thank you for the sentiments, wishes and that lovely photo of Glenn along with his lyrics. Ah, if only he was indeed addressing them to me! In fact, my former boss here at work, who has moved up the corporate ladder, sent me a birthday e-mail yesterday, in which he joked that he hoped I would receive a marriage proposal from "that man in the Eagles!"

So many of you have wishes me, I hope I haven't left anyone out.

I had a super day yesterday, with my father and colleagues/friends spoiling me rotten with gifts. I needed an extra bag to take all my gifts home!

In addition, I threw a combined party last Saturday for my birthday, along with a friend of mine who turned 60 last Thursday. We are both huge Elvis fans, and belong to the local Elvis Fan Club of Africa, so we had an Elvis party, at which I performed along with a new friend of mine, James, who is, among other things, an Elvis tribute artist.

It was the first time James and I had performed together, and we didn't do much rehearsing, due to time constraints and the remnants of my laryngitis which I contracted a month ago. My voice held on the night, though, and we gave a very entertaining show, according to my friends who attended the evening. I had an absolute blast, as I'd dreamed of performing with James ever since I first saw him perform in January this year. He did an Elvis tribute for his birthday on 8 January, and I was blown away by him. I am usually very critical of Elvis tribute artists/impersonators, but this man is amazing. I heard that he was performing at a venue close to where I live in August, and I went to see him perform. He recognised me immediately after 8 months (we met briefly at the first show I attended and had photos taken), and came over to me during the interval.

We are now very good friends and he is looking to include me in his show in future. He is a professional entertainer, so as you can imagine, I am very flattered that he would like to work with me. He's an amazing person, so warm and friendly, to go along with his many talents. I feel privileged to know him. It was, in fact, his idea to perform at a party for me with me, after I asked him if he was going to perform on my birthday. He actually kept the day open especially for me, i.e. he opted not to accept any gigs for that day. What a guy!

As you can gather, my life seems to be taking a positive turn, after some of the negativity that has engulfed my life over the last few months. I am very grateful and feel very blessed, and thank God that I have so many good friends, not only in my personal life, but here on The Border too.
