That's the same way I feel, Brooke. I'm a little bit envious of someone like Austin that can remember and point to a single song that had such an impact on their life. For me, the affect of music on my life isn't quite as clear. But, just exactly as you said, I really can't think of any one song that can top Hotel California for me either.

Hotel California is my second favourite song after Yesterday by the Beatles. It had a similar impact on me as it did for Austin; but there are a couple of other songs in my Top 20 which I feel the same about.
It's great when music can change your life or have an impact like that and give inspiration. If it hadn't been for hearing that song at that time, there is no doubt in my mind that I would not have learned guitar or done anything. I would still be a depressed bored person. I have Hotel California and I just play it over and over. It's my ringtone on my cellular phone. It's the song I close my solo shows with and when I was in the Eagles tribute, we'd close our shows with it too.

I thought I would post this in recognition of today being the 39th anniversary of the release of the Eagles very first single, which has become a classic like so much of their work.
Congratulations to Take It Easy!!!
Here are a couple of videos old and new. Enjoy them before they disappear.

My all-time favorite version of the song is the Hell Freezes Over version with the extended guitar solos, but I couldn't find it on YouTube.
